Well this past weekend was another opportunity for me to get inside the ropes and meet the players, find balls and interact with the crowd.
I was Marshaling the tournament again this year on the 6th hole (Done it for the past 4 or 5 years). Almost got hit 6 times by the drives because you couldn't see the ball until it was right on top of you thanks to a white ball and very cloudy or sunny conditions. I completely LOST Vijay Sings (I can never spell his name) ball as he totally screwed up his shot and went way left (and I never saw it at all, just say the paddles hurridly being pushed towards my direction). 5 Marshal's tried to find it and couldn't but fortunately a caddie did. I think I had walked right over the ball too... But it was in the THICK THICK rough! He played a stupid shot and found himself in the drink.
A group of 9-10 people tried to sneak onto the course by coming onto the course by the 6th green through the woods... They properly got escorted OFF the course...
Crowds were smaller than usual (except Monday was pretty good). Only a few drunk idiots trying to ruin it for everyone else but other than that the tournament pretty much went off without a hitch.
All the players who I found their balls for thanked me and some of the even joked with me about how "poor" of a shot they had hit.
I highly recommend people volunteering for this event as it really is a good one!!
