Let's just hope that Dee Gordon is not the Dodgers answer to 2B next season.

Right now the Dodgers have a couple of options. They can sign a FA, like Robinson Cano or Kelly Johnson. The Yankees are likely to retain Cano and he would cost A LOT of money. Since it's not my money, and the Dodgers have PLENTY of money, I would make a push for Cano.

Option 2 would be to look into signing Kelly Johnson. The guy would provide more offensively than Ellis.

Option 3 would be to re-sign Mark Ellis. I still would be happy having him, but we can do better.

Beyond these options, we either have to trade for a 2B or sign someone from the international market. Alex Castellanos has not been signed yet, to my knowledge, and there isn't any guarantee that he could do the job next year any way.

I have no idea who the Dodgers could trade for that would be an upgrade and no one in the minor leagues is ready to play 2B at the major league level. Dee Gordon might be okay defensively, but he offers VERY LITTLE offensively.

So, either sign Cano or Johnson or bring back Mark Ellis.

I meant to say Alex Guerrero not Castellanos.

Does anyone know his status? The Dodgers were on the verge of signing him, but then things stopped.

I don't think he's been cleared by the GOVT yet

I have seen Ellsbury run and he's fast as hell.........no doubt about that. Dee Gordon is simply faster.

But, having said that, I would take Ellsbury ANY day over Gordon. Ellsbury is a polished player and Gordon is anything but that.

The only problem with Ellsbury is that he has had injury problems. I hope he stays healthy.

Ellsbury would still be more productive than Gordon in my opinion as Dee struggles to get on base.

Food for thought.

There are not a lot of examples in baseball where the son of a former player is better than the father. Ken Griffey Jr. & Barry Bonds are 2, but I can think of many more when dad was the better player.

Maybe Tom "Flash" Gordon should have taught his kid to pitch? He had a wicked curve back in his day.....

Dee Gordon has great speed.......probably the fastest guy in Baseball. Gordon is simply not major league ready.

I'd say Billy Hamilton would argue that Gordon is the fastest man in baseball. But Hamiltons problem is also that he isn't the best at getting on base yet. That is why the Reds haven't brought him up yet, but we will probably see him come September.

Just lump them together in the large group called "We would have been great at baseball, if we only were allowed to steal 1st base as well as the others".

The Reds move Hamilton from SS to CF because he wasn't doing too well there from what I heard.

Pete Rose and George Sisler were better than their kids.......so was Yogi Berra and Andy Van Slyke. I'm sure there were a few others.

Ok I have been hopeful that Dee Gordon would improve but 3 errors tonight? He is still awful defensively but I could overlook that if his on base percentage wasnt terrible. If he cannot get on base then his speed is useless and Im just running out of room to cut him any slack. What do you guys think about Dee Gordon?

He is utter garbage.

Dee Gordon = Chin Lung Hu = Rafael Bournigal = Dave Anderson = Jose Offerman = any other shitty shortstop you can think of.
