I really hate the lineups Chip Hale has for this team. It is so difficult to score runs when your 7-8-9 guys are all batting below .200. That is like having only six batters in your lineup that you expect to be able to produce runs. Hale needs to find a different mix of players. And why is Trumbo still on this team. Furthermore, why is he batting fourth? He sucks. He has 6 rbi's in 62 at bats this season and he has been up many times with runners on. The team needs to trade him and Reed already. It is getting really old. Those guys are so bad.
Trumbo has sucked with RISP, but to say he shouldn't be in the lineup forgets who else is in the lineup.
The 5-6-7-8-9 guys don't have a single player hitting over .235. Solid lineups can support a turd like Tuffy who is going to hit .190 all year or Nick Ahmed rocking a .135 BA because they have so much talent surrounding them. When you have over HALF the lineup hitting like garbage, you aren't going to win much.
Same thing as last year...too many minor league guys masquerading as major leaguers on this team. It's improved, but comparing this to the Dodgers or even Rockies lineup is laughable.
I would take Trumbo out of the lineup and platoon Peralta/Tomas in right field and put Hill at third base until Lamb is healthy enough to return. Trumbo is so bad and I have confidence that Hill can turn it around if he gets some consistent playing time. Before Hill was hit by a pitch and broke his hand a long time ago, he was one of the Diamondbacks best and most consistent hitters.
This would be my lineup:
Inciarte LF
Pollock CF
Goldschmidt 1B
Peralta/Tomas RF
Owings 2B
Ahmed SS
Hill 3B
Gosewich C
Pitcher
The reason I move up Ahmed is to break up batting Ahmed and Gosewich back to back. And maybe Hill could provide a little protection for Ahmed so he could see some better pitches. Most of Trumbo's hits have been without runners on base and he hardly ever knocks in runs. He was terrible last year too. This year his average is better but he is completely unreliable and has not come through when it mattered. Plus his defense sucks so what is the point of him being on this team when you have Peralta and Tomas. Both of them are more than capable of taking Trumbo's place and they both have WAY more potential. Trumbo and Reed need to be replaced.
Damn, Kirk Gibson has been diagnosed with Parkinson's. I noticed he usually had a hunched in body, like he was trying to control possible tremors. I have a great uncle who Parkinson's, other than the constant tremors, he was completely healthy. Sad to hear this news.
