I wonder the same thing. That definitely gets a "fuck if i know" shrug from me, but I think we can agree that the Caps, Pens, and Isles are all not very good. All three are highly likely to miss the playoffs.

No, they have general managers making terrible moves. Overpaying for goalies, not releasing assets while they are still viable for a trade, etc. It's insane the Pens still have Malkin, Letang, and added Karlsson. Idiocy. Keep Crosby to mentor young talent and rebuild.

Caps are in the same boat. Backstrom, Kuznetsov, and Oshie ALL could have been moved in 2020-2022 and fetched some healthy returns of young players/draft picks for a team looking for a piece to get them over the top. Instead, we've now lost all 3 to injury and drug addiction and NOTHING to show for them. Keep OV of course if nothing else for ticket sales and the record, but getting ZERO return on 3 of your best 6 players from the 2019 Cup team is a COMPLETE joke and MacClellan should be fired for it. I'd say we have faith in Ted, but if he truly moves the team out of the District, he is going to be as hated as Dan Snyder in this town.
