Solid race so far but gotta call it a night. Thanks Nascar for ruining a chance for most fans in Eastern and Central time zones a chance to stay up to watch the entire race

No it isn't, but in the years that it did, I had to miss the race because I was watching fireworks. So I'm thankful that NASCAR is now mindful that people like to celebrate the 4th of July and moved the race to Sunday to accommodate this. If a tradition is broke, fix it, and NASCAR did. But people like to bitch when it rains and cry about the sun being hot, so really it's a no win situation for NASCAR when it comes to simple minded folks who like to bitch.

And also, running a day race at Daytona in July isn't the best idea either. I live in Georgia, and Daytona in July is way too hot for me.

Funny you mention tradition and weather in that post. Because for the longest time, the tradition was this race was started in the late morning. Why? Because Big Bill had enough sense to know that it rains all the time in Florida in the late afternoons and also to let people spend time with their families later on in the day.

Holy shit, I've missed the majority of the race because I didn't think there was anyway they'd still be racing this late.

to say that "catch" fence did its job is an understatement

I've never seen anything like that where the car pretty much came to a stop once it hit the fence. I sure hope so serious injury in grandstands

The view from Stewarts car is insane. Car stops so fast it almost looks like something jerks it backwards.

Is Austin a Lane Frost fan or something with that wave?
