Reading a lot of great stuff about this guy. Will be youngest coach in NHL. He has a LONG track record of working with young players.

yeah his track record in the ahl is pretty impressive and you look at john cooper and have to wonder if he will follow in his path.

if lou was still in charge i dont think he makes this move or even if he did he would probably have a very short leash.

once we can get some youth in the forwards i will be very excited with this move.

I like it, pretty positive feedback regarding this guy. Glad we're going with something new, didn't want a retread type of coach. I have a feeling he'll get some breathing room since the team isn't expected to compete over the next 2 seasons. Let's get some youth up here and let him start grooming right away.

I'm positive... I know nothing of the guy but that could be a great thing! In today's sports, there's some leniency or give to younger coaches, so let try it out ourselves...

If he does work with younger guys, then someone like Boucher, Matteau or Q will get fair chances to play? along with our first rd pick.

I do hope Stevens stays on, I think his work with the D was going well IIRC toward the end of the season.

Agreed about Stevens. Not sure how much of it was just having Deboer out and having more experience but the defense had an extra jump in their step, they looked more comfortable. I'd love to keep him here.

If Hynes gets this team to exceed expectations, he makes Shero look very good. Plus he gets his foot in the door as an NHL coach. This is almost a no lose situation for Shero.

With the Shero and Hynes combo, I think they dump more older guys on this team very soon.

Are you sure he's really that age? It's the first time I'm seeing him and the guy looks like he's in his 70s.

That being said, I'm glad that It's Hynes and not some of the other guys that have been mentioned. I like what I've heard about him.

Lets see where this goes. There's really not too much to knock about this nor there is enough to praise without being repetitive...

I am intrigued to see who he brings in or who he keeps from the prior staff... like Stevens and Oates.

With Hynes on board, whats the direction do we look at in the Draft? skilled W or Skilled C etc...(pray to god its an offensive player)

soon we should start talking about draft prospects once again.

wow i just saw a pic of the guy and he does look waaaaaaaaaaaaay older then 40. he actually looks a little like jmac.

the one good thing with oates and stevens is that if they aren't going to stay with the team we could get a 3rd round pick if someone wants to hire them. maybe we should go out and hire a bunch of coaches

I'm with everyone else. There are no red flags and I am willing to give him a couple years to get things turned around. I never like to force coaches on a GM or assistant coaches on a head coach, but I really think Stevens made a difference with the defense. How much was Deboer being subtracted and how much was Stevens being added? No idea really. But I'll be damned if Larsson didn't start to look like a first round draft pick.

Lol might as well. To be honest though I don't really want him esp for the price it would cost
