Pierre will go another 550 at-bats without another home run.

I guess we thought a pitcher for a pitcher ... this makes sense IF Soto can hit.

Soto hit 31 HR in 2011--so he is right handed and has power. This is a good move even though we probably wont see much help from it

I am assuming that Soto will be sent down, and Cueto will be activated after Sundays game? Unless they are showing off Soto for a trade.

Just thought, I hope Dusty is not planing on sitting Votto today after going 4 for 4 last night

Votto hasn't missed a game yet, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him sit out. Hate to see a guy on the bench when the ball is looking as big as a beach ball to him right now.

No doubt the power is back. When he's got aggressive and pulled the ball, he's shown great power out the front door.

votto is really grooving when he's hitting doubles to left-center. joey has power, but when he's hitting to all fields consistently - i wouldn't want to be pitching to him. he flicks his wrists and it's left-center gapper. probably the most disciplined hitter i've seen in many many moons. however, i think the home run number, in 2010, was an anomaly. .300+, 25, 90, and a ungodly OBP for the next 10 years, with a few big years, will put him in the hall of fame.

I follow every MLB team on Twitter and without a doubt the Reds have the best account of all. Tons of great stats posted daily.

I think Votto may be the most complete hitter ever in Reds history before he's done. More power and speed than Rose, better batting average than Frank Robinson. Joe Morgan was the complete package, for a while...if you remove 5 prime BRM years from Morgan, he's just a slick fielding speedster with a ho-hum bat the rest of his career, though.

I always was intrigued by Rose's ability to hit and the only thing that comes to mind is his crouched swing ... not really unlike Votto's. I won't say one connects to the other because vision, bat speed all different, and ... as well, different eras. Frank Robinson also held his bat level.

But I look at some other guys who struggle to hit .240 and see how they hit. There's something to be said for paying attention.

There is alot of common things to draw from a Rose/Votto comparison but the thing that stands out to me the most is PLATE DICIPLINE. Both Rose and Votto work pitchers into the count until they get their pitch to hit; if they dont, they have no problem in taking first base on a walk. This why both are .300+ hitters.

It was on this date back in 1935 that, at Crosley Field, the era of night time baseball begins as 25,000 fans watch the Reds beat the Phillies 2-1 in the first major league game ever played under the lights. During the pre-game ceremonies, President Franklin D. Roosevelt pushes a button at the White House to illuminate the field.
