They're the defending champs, it's going to take one hell of an effort to beat them...I don't see it happening

At this point can't add anything new that we haven't heard 100 times but here are the top 5 things I'm looking forward to seeing in this game:

1) The chess match between the coaches
Will OSU focus more in stopping the run or the pass? How will Clemson try to slow down Chase Young? How would OSU counter Clemson's attempt in slowing down Young? How will Venables try to sneak an extra man in the run box vs OSU spread offense? How will OSU try to counter a defense that likes to blitz a lot? etc, etc...

2) How will each QB look vs the pressure from the opposing defense
You have the #1 team in sacks per game vs #5 sacks allowed. Something that don't get enough attention is how well the DC of OSU blitz to counter teams who try to double Young. A concern for Clemson is not necessary their OL but their RB in pass protection. On the flip side, people seems to ignore Fields has taken 27 sacks this year. DLine may not be what it was last year but Venables has always been a heavy blitzer and Clemson still avg 3.1 sacks per game this year. Will be interested in how quick Fields can diagnose Clemson disguised defense

3) Clemson WRs vs OSU secondary
1st rounders on both sides of the ball here, what more could you ask for? OSU secondary is athletic enough to stick to any WR core in the country and great at tackling. Clemson is just loaded with 6'4 WRs all around except Rodgers and if they are left in 1on1 coverage, Clemson is throwing the ball up. Slight edge to the 6'4 people

4) OSU offensive run vs Clemson run defense
Losing a lot in their front 7, Clemson run defense is not as strong as previous years but still 8th opp. ypc (giving up 2.96 ypc). It's just OSU probably has the best rushing attack who had success vs top 10 rush defenses before against Wisc and Penn St. I expect OSU to have the edge here.

5) How will Clemson use Trevor Lawrence in the run game
If there's one thing TL improved the most from last year, it's his ability to move with the football more effectively. Ever since Watson tore his ACL vs GT, Clemson has taken the QB run out vs lesser teams and turned it on in bigger games. Wouldn't be surprise if TL get 10 attempts on design runs as Clemson will need all they can get on the ground vs OSU run defense.

Tough predicting the total score, this game could end up in the the 40s or 20s. For bias reasons I have
Clemson: 34
OSU: 27

I like to pretend Clemson has an edge in coaching staff, playoff experience and they find a way to win in close games (25 - 4 in 1 possession games in the last 8 years)

I’m taking the reining champ, but I am biased, so maybe it is wishful thinking.

Good, maybe you fellow Ohioans will move there and stay in state.

The Ohio parade is arriving here as I type this. A friend driving home from Tampa said it took 5 hours last night, instead of the normal 2 hours.

It wouldn't be so bad if they weren't such assholes.

They can't mirror anyone, because they'd break a mirror.

You could say it, but you'd be wrong. OSU played the following in the top 40 in scoring offense....
Florida Atlantic - 14
Wisconsin X2 - 21
PSU - 24
Michigan - 40

Or did you mean to say the same of Clemson D as the only offenses they faced in top 40 were wake Forest and L'ville - 38 and 39

This probably didn't go how you wanted.
That one surprises me. Wisconsin with an offense is kind of like Baylor with a defense.

They've had a top 25 scoring offense in two of the last three years. Obviously, having a RB go for 1900 yards a year certainly helps.

I'll be rootin for Clemson, as usual, but dayum this is a tough one. Both teams have a chip on their shoulder and I've got nothing to really gauge how good Clemson is this year due to sked shortfalls.

I gotta feeling it's gonna become a JK Dobbins show with a sprinkle of Fields that decides this game.

Just hope for a good one and no blowout yawner.

What happened in 78?

Woody Hayes forgot to go to anger management class. The result was he had a senior citizen moment. And no he didn't shit his pants.
