I don't think I'd do that. Not because it's not a good idea (it is) but I have read quotes from Cain (and Pence) saying that they want to go out and do battle - they don't care that they are out of it, they want to PLAY. Placing Cain on the 60-day would end the season for him.

This is Cain's first DL trip in his 9 year career. Pretty impressive actually.

And it is not an elbow, shoulder or back issue. He takes a line-shot off his pitching arm, and is only expected to miss 2 or 3 starts.

Dude is a boss.

I hope he heals up good. Maybe the extra time resting will save some innings on his arm and he will be that much stronger next year. He took a nasty shot to his arm.

Totally agree. While it won't happen. Would love to see it. These guys are tired. The season is over. Let em get a long rest and reload for next year. This team is going nowhere without strong pitching and Cain and Bumgardner are supposed to be our sure things in the rotation.
