Yup, just got the same thing. Didn't see that coming. My wife is gonna be pissed, she loves Kimbrel.

Yea, I am surprised Braves got rid of Kimbrel but glad got rid of the horrible contract of Upton.

Here is what I am seeing for deal.

The Braves will acquire Maybin and Quentin, Rosenthal tweets. The Braves will also acquire pitcher Matt Wisler, as FOX Sports’ Jon Morosi tweets. McDaniel tweets that the Braves will also receive outfield prospect Jordan Paroubeck. Rosenthal tweets that the Braves will also receive the 41st pick in this June’s draft.


Saw somewhere that Wisler is Padres #1 prospect and Paroubeck is 15th ranked prospect

I thought Kimbrel could be dealt at the trade deadline, but I didn't think Upton's contract was movable in any package. I am kinda assuming/hoping the Padres are on the hook for Upton's entire contract. That is a lot of $.

Wow, I hate to see Kimbrel go, I really do, but if thst means Melvin Upton is gone, it's definitely worth it IMO.

Another top pitching prospect to boot. Not sure what we're gonna do with Maybin and Quentin though.

But Halle fuckin lujah Melvin Upton Jr is gone.

I knew if we were gonna trade BJ away, we'd have to part ways with someone we didn't want to see go, and while Kimbrel was great and dominant, he was a closer and Jason Grilli has a lot of closing experience.

Hopefully when the details start emerging we don't have to eat too much of Melvin's contract.

Really, every Braves fan will miss Craig Kimbrel, but we came out of this deal smelling like roses. Not only do we rid ourselves of Atlanta's least favorite son, we get the motherfucker's top ranked prospect, another decently ranked prospect, a draft pick and outfield depth.

Good haul for sure. I heard they wanted Wiseman in the original Upton deal, but the Padres wouldn't part with him. The Braves are amassing a shit load of young power arms.

Where do you see we'll be worse than last season?

You honestly think our 29th ranked offseason will be worse this season? Yeah, the homeruns will drop, but so will strikeouts, and you know, good things happen when you put the ball in play.

Our starting staff should be improved with Teheran's and Wood's maturing and adding Miller and our BP took a hit when Simmons went down and we traded Kimbrel, but we added some nice pieces to it as well.

I'm not gonna say we're gonna make a post season run, but I think we'll at least be .500 and a step in the right direction.

I don't think they're significantly better in any department. They were just under .500 last year (as I predicted! Go me!) so they'll either do the same thing this year or be 5 to 10 games worse.

I never realized Kimbrel was such a dreamboat. There are several girls on my Facebook that are Braves fans and every one of them had similar reactions. They're pissed, lol.

Me too highly entertaining game so far....but of course it is only again st the marlins. Tuned in in the 4th. Nice throw out at third, double play to end 5th, and take g home to n the I field hit. I approve....
