Yeah. Hard to say because for the longest time we've blown games we easily should have won, but rarely have we come in as a clear underdog and prevailed (see, e.g., every major bowl game since 1994). Although I'd put 2013 Mich St on that list. We were their only loss that year and they went on to win the Big 10 and Rose Bowl and finished the season ranked 3. We had a middling 9-4 season with a mediocre bowl win over Rutgers.

I thought about the 2013 MSU game, but at the time of the game ND was ranked higher, and if I had to guess, I'd say we were favored in that game, just because MSU had looked pretty bad up until that point. By the end of the year, you're right though, looking back that was a pretty big upset.

UCLA's 20-17 win over 'Bama in 2001!!!!!!!!!

You mean the 7-5 Alabama team that year? :pound:

Believe it or not I was at that game. The moment Freddie Milons returned the punt back, I about lost. Then the season started.

Hard to choose since Alabama was soooooo bad at the begin of the 21st century, and until Saban, were never really good enough to beat anybody worth a damn. Now every loss is an upset for us.

Regardless, I will have to go with the following game, which really was the first time I saw Alabama just absolutely dominate a very talented opponent.

Good point, I didn't consider the rankings at the time.

Or maybe this LOL

I really should have went with this if nothing else because it was at the Swamp and was Coach Meyer's first loss in 19 games there. Plus there is nothing like getting trolled by a freshman kicker.:pound::pound:

2003 over Miami. #17 Tennessee won 10-6 at #6 Miami. Kellen Winslow gave us this gem that day.

2004 over Georgia. Tennessee was in turmoil after hosting college gameday and Auburn. Auburn curb stomped Tennessee 34-10. The following week the vols rolled into Athens and beat #3 Georgia.

2005 over LSU. Tennessee was down 21-0 at half time and 24-7 to start the 4th quarter to #4 LSU. In a crazy game, Rick Clausen led the vols to an overtime win.

2007 - My Kentucky Wildcats beat the then #1 ranked and eventual National Champion, LSU Tigers.

It still didn't make up for the "Blue Grass Miracle" but was pretty sweet none the less.

Some UK fans might argue this win but this is the biggest upset I can recall in my 41 years as a fan.

These are a few that I thought of off the top of my head.

Or

Reason I added the Capitol One Bowl was Iowa was down to their 4th or 5th string RB, 50 individual RBs had more rushing yards, Iowa wasn't great at passing, LSU had a top 5 pass defense. Iowa shouldn't have been able to do that.

Maybe the beatdown of AtM of 77-0 in 2003. It wasn't surprising that OU won but the manner they won. Holy Crap who would have imagined, not only to do score 77 points but the defense get's the goose egg.

Crazy thing is OU didn't even score in the 4th. They spent the entire time taking a knee.

For me, it would be #2 Alabama's 32-13 win over #1 Florida in the 2009 SEC Championship Game. Most of the upsets Bama has been involved in since then have been losses.

Signaled the beginning of the long, arduous, climb back to prominence.

Not only that but, was the first game of upsetting SC :

FCS McNeese over FBS South Florida. I think it is still the largest MOV by a FCS team over a FBS team.
53-21

Nice win, but not a record. That would be Portland State's 66-7 win over North Texas in 2015.

Yep. The 2013 summary of the McN. USF on Wikipedia needs updating. For a few seasons Portland St. was a powerhouse in FCS and North Texas.....well they're North Texas....but 66-7, damn.
Well, McN. held it for a couple of seasons anyway.
