I suppose so, but if him leaving the org wasn't his idea first, then it wasn't his choice. The org implied that it was a mutually arrived decision, but they owed him that much after what he accomplished there. The fact that he tried to land in Atlanta tells me that he didn't want to retire, so he probably didn't want to leave NE either. Atlanta's future isn't really much brighter than NE's so why not just stay where you are at. And he lives in Connecticut. Why coach in Atlanta?

The Falcons are far closer to the postseason than the Patriots IMO. If nothing else, their division is on a down cycle. They have strong prospects at RB, TE and #1 WR. Add even a meh QB and some pass rush and this team should be in the playoffs.

Reid is 42 wins away from the big 300, and that's with respect to the regular season records. Throw in his 25 postseason dubs and he's just 17 away from reaching this vaunted milestone. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he was to stick around long enough to reach that mark.
