Rangers attendance isn't pretty amid ugly start, but team says bad run won't kill its ambitions in future

The swirling spiral of losses that has engulfed the Rangers’ season will apparently not suck the future into its vortex, too.

In the past, the Rangers' business model seemed to operate in this manner: Losses led to lower attendance; lower attendance led to lower revenues; lower revenues led to drastic reductions in payroll and baseball operations budgets.

While the Rangers have scaled back payroll this season, further losses this year will not impact the team’s long-term payroll or baseball operations budgets, representatives for team ownership said Wednesday. Ownership otherwise declined to comment on attendance.
