I read today that the Jackets had something like 85 players in camp. Something like 20 on PTOs.

That seems like a lot and surprised they actually released so few on first cut.
When I posted that the only cut was the Canes, hence the comment about no AHL affiliate. Which it will be curious to see how they disperse their minor leaguers.

And that is amazing about the Jackets having that many players. Are they one of the teams having an overseas game?

No their overseas excursion was last year. Not sure why they had so many. I guess Babcock wanted a lot of phones to go through?

It's crazy to bring in so many when there are logjams everywhere but goal. 4 or 5 guys who had regular roles last year are probably not making the team this year. I mean we got two new defensemen and 2 or 3 more who are varying levels of NHL ready. And none of the regulars have been traded away.

yeah, I'm really glad Canucks didn't bring any PTOs.
what's the point of developing player in the minors if they don't get a sniff

it just reeks of desperation when it's an open call.
like, maybe a 43 year old Owen Nolan will put us over the hump!
no, no he won't.

The only PTO that made sense (and he will probably get signed) is Aaron Dell. We need a goalie who can play in the AHL and make the trip up to the big club (and clear waivers) when the injury train starts rolling.

Although it may have made more sense to sign a UFA veteran or simply not let Hutchinson go.

I guess the Blue Jackets are hosting some sort of "dress up and watch hockey" for local middle schools.

Sorry, I am being told these are Blue Jackets players.

So, Matt Coronato will be the next NCAA player drafted by the Flames looking to leave town?

The Flames scored one less goal tonight than the Stamps had points against Montreal yesterday at McMahon.
