After the trade deadline seeing what other teams did, what we didn't do, our lineup, San Diego surging, I'm pretty sure we're gonna miss the playoffs. Hoping to be wrong but that's my August 1st call.

I'm at the Houston airport awaiting a flight to Lubbock to see old college friends, and then to Dallas.

Minute Maid park is pretty cool, and their team is awfully good. Can't say much of my impressions of H-town, though. Quite a few of the cities I have visited have downtown areas that are like ghost towns. Buildings boarded up. businesses closed. No traffic at all. I went for a walk at 8:00 this morning and saw maybe a dozen cars in the heart of downtown Houston. St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati were all like that.

Why not Diaz?

Diaz has been a waste of space. Not sure what the attraction is. I know he's a short timer as Thairo is returning soon, and Diaz will go back to Sacramento or wherever. But I would love to have seen Fitz or somebody who can actually hit fill that spot.
