All legit comments.

Remove Miller and add a WR. Schilens gets cut so it comes down to Willis, Spurlock, and Durham. But that leaves just 3 backs.

Get rid of Wendling and add Willie Young but 5 defensive ends?

Thats the thing at this point you add you have to subtract as well. I am sure Shwartz will play the IR list as well. Greenwood I believe is still eligible for the practice squad so I think he will end up clearing waivers and going back on the practice squad.

With Waddle making the team I see Hilliard or Fox not.

It is nice that the Lions are at a point where it is not easy to cut some of the players. It is a great sign that the depth is getting built up. Say what you like about mayhew, he has done a good job of filling the backend with better talent.

I think Matt Willis Makes if over Spurlock. No way they keep 4 TE's, and If they do Michael Williams is one of them. Most likely He's going to the IR tho, and Theo Riddick takes his spot. I think Bannan makes it over Saddler Mqueen (sp?). 4 DTs. 5 DE's and 4 DTs in my opinion, take out Drew and add Willie. LaAdrian Waddle Makes this team. I can guarantee it. I say keep 7 CB's and add Greenwood to the list. Maybe remove Kellen Moore.

Just my 2 Cents :)

I think bannon and Mcqueen have both flashed, going to be tough for the coaches on that decision.

Kellen Moore locked up a roster spot IMO. He needed to come up with a big game when it counted and he did just that.

Waddle has to make the team at this point. He has played better than Fox. Hopefully Schwartz will start him in game 4. See him against some first teamers.

I'm not pro or con Kellen Moore, but the way I look at it is if Stafford and Hill both go down or out then we won't be winning. Might as well keep a guy that will actually contribute on sundays then the what if scenario. Theres a good chance Kellen Moore wouldn't even see the field for the entire season so he would just be taking up a spot on the 53 man roster that could go to a guy that could see a few snaps each sunday.

I like this list with 2 tweaks. Get rid of Wendling. We do not have room for specialists on this team. Add back Willie Young. Get rid of T Lewis and add anyone off the street.

I'd be fine with dropping Wendling for Willie Young. I can imagine an obvious passing scenario where Willie would predominantly be used with Suh, Fairley, and whoever our next best pass-rusher is. Come to think of it, our d-line is beastly.

Taylor or Willie Young?

I think Taylor as I mentioned before. A third down sack specialist is more of a luxury if you have to start exposing some of these young guys to waivers. Although it will be tight regardless.

I'd keep both. You can never have too many pass rushers in today's NFL. That's why I think Young is more valuable than Wendling. Taylor is going to take some time to develop, but I think he'll be a solid piece for us going forward.

So the Lions would keep - Ansah, Taylor, Young, Idonije, and Jones.

Cut Wendling and who else?

3 DTs and 5 DEs is my prediction. Since Jones and Idonije can both play inside as well I'm guessing that this is the way they go...

Schwartz has always had a pretty good DT rotation and either Idonije or Jones is starting. I can't see them going less than 4 DTs. Could be wrong on this one but IMO the best Schwartz would go would be 4 and 4.

Maybe we are over thinking this one. Ansah I doubt gets replaced on passing downs. Idonije is a solid to very good rush end.....Do the Lions still need Young as a specialist?

Now if Young is just better and has greater upside he needs to be kept....thats the big money question.

More players than spots!

Williams IR, Miller gets waived and picked up practice squad, Willis wins the last WR spot and Greenwood clears waivers and gets practice squad. Still leaving RB short.

Although I am thinking it will be close between Spurlock, Willis, and Durham.

I want Durham to make it. Just think of a redzone set with Durham (6'5), Calvin (6'4), Pettigrew (6'5), and Fauria (6'7).

It would be nice, if only durham didnt have stones for hands.

I think he'll be fine. Remember last season, he was rushed onto the field without really knowing thr playbook? Well now he's had the whole offseason to develop and learn what the Lions need from him. He was a former 4rd pick. I think he'll grow into a solid player.

Interesting- I like all of the thought you're putting into it, gives us a sense of who we gotta cut in order to keep guys we want.

I can't see us keeping less than 4 RBs. I'd call Bush, Bell, Leshoure and Owens pretty much locks. Riddick and Miller are battling for a possible 5th spot, imo...

To go on IR, he first has to take a spot on the 53 man roster. So we have to hope whoever takes his spot clears waivers first.

I think you guys give more credit to some of these young players than outsiders will. I don't see anyone claiming guys like Mike Williams or Devin Taylor. Both can make their way to the practice squad. No sense in putting Williams on IR and wasting a roster spot. TEs who cant run or catch are not in high demand. Taylor has not been all that impressive either. Not bad, just not noticeable. It would be a little bit of a risk, but I think he would get through also. If we went the other way and dropped Young, he would get scooped up pretty quick.
