I don't think most of those schools are out recruiting you in a consistent basis. I can explain a couple of them though. Texas A&M is an hour from Houston and 3 hours from DFW. UCLA is in LA. If anything, those two have historically underachieved despite their access to talent. Recruiting has a lot to do with geography for the vast majority of programs.

You are absolutely right. Relocate Nebraska to even some shit hole like Shreveport, Louisiana or Gainesville, Texas and they would claw their way back up to the top within a few years. But they're stuck in Lincoln, Nebraska and today's kids just aren't interested in playing that far North in the middle of nowhere and in the cold........unless you're something really special like Ohio State.

Nebraska needs an identity again. They were at their best when they had the best strength program in the country, had a specialized offense that created a schematic advantage, and took flyers on troubled kids that were very talented. Nebraska had the support system to provide a structured environment where a kid like that could thrive. Everybody else just caught up with them and they've done nothing to shine the light on themselves again as a place worth going to.
