I am dead then. I was 24
I heard it on the radio while i was driving to the Kings store in Santa Ana. The guys in the store were going crazy when i got there.

Friggin classic. Loved seeing DBush's name in there. My disdain for J-Blow still remains at elite status to this day, years after that pylon moved on.

Wow! Where does that put me? I was 46 and enjoying my first season as a season ticket holder. It was kind of weird. I had gotten tickets for the '88 playoffs (against Gretzky and the Oilers) through a friend and the wife had such a good time we put a deposit down for season tickets for the '88/89 season. Lo and behold in August of '88 the TRADE was made and tickets got hard to get but since I had gotten my name (and money) in early I was pretty high on the priority list and got pretty good seats at a good price.

Although I'm not a Kings fan, that trade was probably what made me take notice of the NHL, the 1988-89 season was the first year I actually kept track of the NHL, and although it probably was due to the Penguins having their first great year in my lifetime, I think the Gretzky trade had a lot to do with it as well. In retrospect, I could trace everything I witness in the NHL starting from the Gretzky trade,
