Not really a fair argument though. Niskanen signed for a few years, no one knew he'd puss out and retire. The failure was in not replacing him.

But the reality is he DID retire and we KNOW that he did so why would you do that trade again 1000 times over knowing he did nothing for us but help win one playoff round.

Again, applying that logic you can say 99% of the flyers moves for the past 50 years were bad. Just because the flyers don’t win the cup, doesn’t mean every move was bad. It could be that just some were bad. Or that they didn’t make enough good moves. This black and white, cup or no cup, way of reviewing if a move was good or bad is crazy.

If the Flyers traded Laughton for McDavid tomorrow, and the Flyers did not win the cup while McDavid was a Flyer, would you consider that to be a bad trade?
