I would think so. Their contracts (as far as we know) expire at the end of 2024. Its a make or break year for both of them. I do hope that they do well but, if they do, I'll still probably be suspicious considering 2021.
Yeah can't blame em for it though, Kapler especially did everything you want a manager to do no need to be suspicious that happened. Kapler is actually better than we give him credit for, BECAUSE of FZ not bringing in talent. SO Kapler has had to work with the crap FZ brings him and he keeps them competitive for half a year and in one year a lotta luck and good vibes and good managing and a weird year. But man that was fun as hell I miss it...

Grant today in the Athletic....NAILS IT:

I’m not saying it’s right or wrong to be angry about the 2023 Giants. I’m not here to berate you for overreacting, and I’m not here to spray kerosene on the anger. It’s just that I’ve followed a lot of teams that are cooked. I’ve followed Giants teams in the ’80s that were cooked before Huey Lewis sang the National Anthem on Opening Day. I’ve covered Giants teams that never had a chance, and teams that screwed up their best chance at the worst possible moment. I followed the Golden State Warriors when they went 16 seasons without an All-Star. I followed the San Francisco 49ers when fans were desperate for David Carr for some reason. And while I’m not going to suggest this is the angriest fan base I’ve been immersed with, it’s close. It’s probably on the Mount Rushmore of scowling fans and livid tweets.

Just a Question.... If they don't reach 77 Wins is the Winner the one who was closet to the final Total without Going Over? :brick::brick::brick::brick:

OUCH THAT HURTS! :)

Didn’t know where else to put this:

Can’t read it, but assuming it’s not click bait, sounds like some of our suspicions may be confirmed.
ASSUMING FZ and Kap are signed through the ‘24 season and not longer than that (rumors that FZ signed an extension and he got the “vote of confidence” from the owners; but no word on Kap’s situation), I am scared to give the fate of the org to a desperate GM who doesn’t care about the state of the org past the current season.

I know I have said I am in favor of them sticking around one more season. And nothing has happened to change my mind on that. I am just pointing out the major flaw in that thinking. And the APPARENT errors that have happened with roster management over the last week or so (burning options on Meckler and Hjelle, the odd temp burned option for Harry) really concern me (from a bigger picture POV, not the specific moves, necessarily).

Aren’t the Giants supposed to be a stable org? When they transition leadership, isn’t it supposed to be somewhat smooth and flawless? What the f happened?

Article points out that if Kap is fired, there isn't a manager out there that would come here on a one year contract, which is all he'd be able to get since FZ's contract expires next year. So, an interim guy would have to come from within. Hence, Wotus.

The other takeaway was that we'll need to trade pitching for hitting, as the FA market is paper thin after Ohtani. Reds and Cards are good trade partner matches.

Also, Forto likely opts out.

At this point I just hope we suck enough to get the best play available to help us in the future. If we find that at an earlier pick or later pick i dont care.

Well, the 2019 draft says that a team can get a good player in the mid part of the round (i.e. the D-Backs getting Carroll) when teams drafting above (i.e. the Giants) pick poorly (i.e. Bishop). Problem is, that was the same group that will draft in 2024.

And I'm out. @Hangman , good luck not hitting the Giants' record on the nose. It doesn't look good. We've got a series against the hottest team in baseball right now coming up next.

I have a feeling we will win a game that drops us down 3 picks in the draft and we end up missing the player we want by one pick. but I hope we get as close to a top 10 pick as we can get

I guarantee you that we will get as close as we can get. That much is certain.
