Unfortunately, we already have an elimination:
moxie 162-0 (3/31)
pachyderm 91-71 (NL West) (81-81???)
Mays-Fan 90-72
tzill 89-73 (NL Wild Card)
Robotech 88-74
stanford the manford 87-75 (NL Wild Card)
calsnowskier 86-76
msgkings322 85-77 (NL Wild Card #3)
jeep99tj 85-77 (miss playoffs)
LHG 84-78 (miss playoffs)
Hangman 77-85
Sandisfan 0-162 (working on the 2nd one today)
With 42 games to go, @calsnowskier is looking the closest on the pre-season prediction. The Giants have settled into a 86-76 trajectory in the past week. And yes, projecting the season's win/loss record with a month and a half to go is a little less goofy than doing it in April.

Have we done one yet? I'll go with 85 wins for the Giants and the 3rd wild card. What the heck, I'll be optimistic.

I'll post playoff predictions later
This went from optimistic to pessimistic to back to optimistic lol

Since the start of June, the San Francisco Giants have averaged 3.3 runs per game. For perspective, that’s worse than the Oakland A’s average this season, and they’re on pace to lose 117 games. It’s lower than the league average of runs scored per game for the National League … in 1968, when the mounds were higher, pitchers were hitting, and more than half the teams hit fewer than 100 home runs. No team in the National League has as many games (27) as the Giants with one or fewer runs scored this season; almost half of those games have come since June 28.

What the Giants are going through right now isn’t about missed chances in the offseason. It’s about a larger organizational vision that’s still in progress. There’s still time (and talent) to get the farm-system conveyor belt humming, and the broader success of the minor leaguers this year suggests that they’ll have chances to make significant trades in the offseason. This is the time for the Giants’ organization to go from Charmander to Charizard and become a sustainable, perennial contender.

You are asking a lot of this club and are being borderline unrealistic right now.

I do wonder if they will even manage that kind of finish. I wouldn't be surprised at all with a losing record in 2023. I would be surprised if they post a record of 82-80 or higher.

The way it would happen is they will play loose now that it's over and win a few by accident. That last homestand their opponents won't be all fired up anyway.

Can they go 5-5, sure. Would I be surprised if they don't? Nope.

But I want the first ever franchise finish at .500 to be followed by the second ever .500 finish. That's the new season goal LOL

By the way the Giants are one of only 5 teams this year to have an attendance drop from last year (worst are White Sox and Royals I think)

So we got that going for us...

I think FZ and Kap get 1 more year, and it can't just be winning they need to stop being boring and bring fans back. I bet they get a 1 year leash.

For some reason, I kinda want that to happen as well. I guess it would be a better statement of the franchise right now than 82-80 would suggest. People would hang their hat on this season as "at least it was a winning season". That is not how this season has felt. I didn't have high expectations going into this season but this team will have to go 8-2 the rest of the way to meet my modest expectations. That is a disappointment.

I would think so. Their contracts (as far as we know) expire at the end of 2024. Its a make or break year for both of them. I do hope that they do well but, if they do, I'll still probably be suspicious considering 2021.
