So how long before this reaches the NHL? Is Quebec going to force the NHL (through Montreal) into the same thing?
Ban fighting completely and ice hockey will be the dangerous sport in the world. Someone will be killed and someone will be put in jail for the rest of their lives. These people don't understand why there is fighting in hockey. None of them have every thrown a ball let alone laced a pair of skates on.

See my quote below? Make it idiot proof and they make a better idiot. Applies here.

The back is the big one but he's missed time with other injuries as well. Of course nowadays it's released as a LBI/UBI instead of being specific but it's ranged from back to feet to neck to wrists from what I recall over the years.

I don't wish the guy anything but success but it appeared he wasn't going to give the Kings any leeway financially and his injury history makes that a big financial risk.

The Jets have every right to be cautious with expectations about being healthy enough to play but I wouldn't be surprised to see < 60 games.

I still remember this as clear as day, and I still can't believe Courtnall only got 2 minutes but O'Donnell got a 5 minute major which led to the PP goals when the Kings were up 3-0. Laperriere also got 2 minutes so his and Courtnall's was a wash and the Blues ended up with the 5 minute major PP. Kings ended up losing the game 4-3 and were swept if you guys remember.

Basically admits they ran 7-11 on purpose and it was planned with Brett Hull. Geoff Courtnall was always a douche, fitting his career ended due to concussions.

My disdain for them really took root after this series, and then a year later when they decide to hand out a 3 year/$29.5 million contract to RFA Pronger with still a year left on his current deal.

Blake was in year 2 of a 3 year deal (that he held out to get in summer 1998) when the Pronger contract was issued, and LA always made Blake the highest paid defender in the league - other players used him as a comp on ensuing contracts, and Blake would get more than that on his next contracts. In 1998 Blake was making $5.267 million, still the highest paid defenseman in the NHL and 3 years from UFA.

The Blues completely blew the salary structure out of the water, bumping up Pronger from $5.175 to $9.5 million. So when Blake's contract at $5.267 million was expiring in summer 2001 that whole fiasco started in camp 2000 and we know the rest. Pronger did win the Norris and Hart in 1999 so there's that, but almost a 200% increase in salary was not only stupid but irresponsible from Blues ownership and management. Keep in mind Pronger was an RFA, not a UFA - the Blues still had player control when they gave that contract out.

That was also a another coin of mine why I hate the Blues. I could have gone my whole life not seeing them win a Cup.

Aren't NFL players drafted at say 21-22 out of college and what not? Not my forte compared to hockey, but I'm assuming the physical maturity of these guys plays a role in that.

You're always hearing about some 6th round/day 3 draft pick making an NFL team out of camp who was drafted only a few months earlier vs the same scenario in the NHL.

Just a thought.

There isn't anywhere to send players to develop like in other leagues so when players get drafted they either make the team, get cut or maybe go on the practice squad.

I'm on the fence with this guy but he's pretty popular around the interwebz for the coverage he provides.

Nothing we didn't already know but some watching material for you - 51 days to go for hockey.

I found it interesting he hit on Buster and his potential $2.6 million available in bonuses, I brought that up earlier in this thread and broke down how he can earn those. He didn't go into detail but I did if you want to find that and see how he earns those ELC bonuses. Hasn't hit any of those bonuses to date and THG makes a pretty harsh point about that in this video.

The Buster blurb starts around the 13:30 mark and he says what pretty much has been said of him since the season ended - puck digging is great and all but it's time to start scoring especially for a 2OA.

Great point, I didn't think of that. They have the other leagues like Canada and what not but I'm assuming that's where you end up to keep a job and not for real development purposes unless you're planning on a comeback at the NFL level.

I am not exactly sure they are made for "development purposes" but there are other leagues such as the XFL, USFL, arena league and as puck mentioned the CFL. There are others throughout the world as well. Every once in a while you will get a Curt Warner story coming from one of the leagues but not too often.
