TE Darnell Washington, Georgia and Zack Kuntz Old Dominion

This TE class is full of hyper athletic freaks this year but two stand out above the rest. Darnell Washington measured in at just shy of 6’7 and 265 pounds and at that size posted a 31” vertical, a 10’2 broad jump, and then blazed a 4.65 40 yard dash. As crazy impressive as that is at that size, Zack Kuntz outdid him. Kuntz, a Penn State transfer, measured in just over 6’7 and 255 pounds and jumped out of the gym with a 40” vertical, a 10’8 broad jump, and a 4.55 40 yard dash. Just absolutely bananas numbers for a guy that size.
From pff TE ranking Kuntz wasn't even top 10. Number 10 is ranked pick # 206. Will be interesting how much stock teams will put into athletics?

I'd call it facts versus promises. Promises aren't bad, but like loans, you need to discount the value since many won't be paid.

For me it's just another tool. A lot of these athletes preapare for this and do well, does not always translate to how well they play the game. I think we can all agree we would like an O Linemen to do more the six reps of 225. Then again an OG or C might have shorter arms than an OT so the reps are easier. It's nice to see a guy run fast in a straighline with no pads on, but that time is altered when there is a DB run stride for stride or while being blocked at the line.

For me the Game Film, Interview, Pro Day, and team visits are more critical, they combine equates to window shopping

The Combine has become a tool that compares athletes in exactly the same tests. The best thing that one can take from it is how well or badly others respond to a relative unknown who outperforms the 'name' guys.

Again, no one had pads on to restrict motion, but it can be compared. WRs compared to DBs compared to LBs. Just how slow is an OL who is 325 lbs and can run a 40 in 5.2? How fast could a WR run if he was required to sprint with a 100 lb. backpack?

Anthony Ricardson blew 'em away yesterday at the Combine. 4.33 40, 43-1/4" vertical. Suddenly he's moved up the most "most Favorable" ladder to #4 amongst the QBs. Amazing what people can do in shorts and tee shirts without any defense on the field.
4.43 - 40
40.5" Vertical.

Still a Freak athletically.
