Physical skills have never been the problem. Hutchinson was a member of Bruce Feldman’s annual ‘CFB Freaks List’. Hutchinson has been credited by the Wolverines S&C program with a 6.54s 3-cone drill, a 36” vertical leap, a 4.64s 40-yard dash, and a 4.07s short shuttle at 265 pounds.

BB_72: These are better marks than most Edge rushers drafted in the Top 5 - 10 over the last 6-8 years

The Senior Bowl and the NFL will hold a pre-draft combine for top prospects from historically Black colleges and universities next January.

The inaugural HBCU combine, scheduled for Jan. 28-29 in 2022, will be similar to the NFL combine with interviews and on-field and medical evaluations.

It will be held at the University of South Alabama and feature select players from four HBCU conferences -- the Southwestern Athletic Conference, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Conference -- and other HBCU institutions.

11. LB NAKOBE DEAN, GEORGIA

He may not be the physical prototype at 6-foot and 225 pounds, but no one plays the game faster at the linebacker position in college football. He’s earned a 91.9 pass-rushing grade and a 90.8 coverage grade this season.

18. CB ROGER MCCREARY, AUBURN

McCreary is an ultra-smooth corner who rarely cedes much in the way of separation. He’s been battle-tested with 76 targets but has allowed only 35 catches with 13 pass breakups mixed in.

21. LB DEVIN LLOYD, UTAH

There may be no better all-around linebacker in the class. Take on blocks, blitz, cover tight ends — it doesn’t matter because Lloyd can do it. It’s why he earned an 89.2 grade this year with above-average grades in every facet.

39. WR JAHAN DOTSON, PENN STATE

Dotson is one of the most difficult receivers to stick with in the class. While he has some size concerns at only 5-foot-11 and 184 pounds, Dotson played through contact more than enough to make it not that worrisome. He dropped only two of his 93 catchable targets this season.

42. EDGE JERMAINE JOHNSON, FLORIDA STATE

Johnson transferred from Georgia so he could see the field. And he pretty much never came off at Florida State, playing a ridiculous 736 snaps this season. He’s a hard-edge-setter who has edge-rushing tools that can translate to the league.

SEC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

LB Nakobe Dean, Georgia Bulldogs

Dean is an athletic freak who has been a nightmare for offenses all season. He has made plays both as a blitzer and as a matchup weapon in coverage and earned a 90.0-plus PFF grade in both facets of play, something no other Power Five off-ball linebacker has done in a full year in the PFF College era.

Dean has totaled 20 pressures — including seven sacks — on 80 rushes, along with two interceptions, two pass breakups and 10 passing stops in coverage. He did that while allowing only 61 yards on 26 targets and 224 coverage snaps.

ACC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Edge Jermaine Johnson II, Florida State Seminoles

Johnson transferred from Georgia to Florida State so that he could be the leader of a defense, and he has been just that down in Tallahassee.

The 6-foot-5, 262-pound edge defender produced at least one sack in nine of his 12 outings and racked up 14 in total for the season. Against the run, Johnson is the only edge defender in the Power Five who ranks top-15 in both run stops and negatively graded play rate.

The Seminoles edge defender earned a grade north of 75.0 in run defense and as a pass-rusher, something no other ACC edge defender accomplished in 2021.

With Lions front office assistant John Dorsey among the many NFL scouts in attendance, Hutchinson spearheaded a fantastic defensive performance. Hutchinson bagged three sacks, drew at least one holding penalty and was a constant menace to talented Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud. Hutchinson displayed the complete package NFL teams want in a premium pass rusher: burst off the snap, powerful shoulders, great hands and punch, quick feet, excellent balance, speed around the edge and power over the inside shoulder of the blocker.

Thibodeaux had five total tackles, one TFL and three QB pressures in Oregon’s win over rival Oregon State. He is a different style of player, more speed-based and better as a stand-up rusher, in contrast to Hutchinson’s more traditional hand-in-dirt style. What’s nice is that both players have shown they can also play in the preferred style of the other.
I am starting to see mock drafts all over the place that have Hutchinson going 1. Seems like this might be one you had correct from the start.

16. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES: LB DEVIN LLOYD, UTAH

Lloyd — a fifth-year senior — has three years of starting experience and has steadily improved in each one. The Utah off-ball linebacker has graded above 79.0 against the run, as a tackler, as a pass-rusher and when in coverage en route to an 88.0 overall mark. The 6-foot-3, 235-pound linebacker has the size, length and athleticism teams covet in the first round.

Thibodeaux' ceiling is so much higher, however Hutchinson possesses that lunch pail type worker that may work in favor of Holmes, DC and AG

It'll more than likely change back to Thibs once the combine is over.

In defense of Thibodeaux, he didn't have a David Ojabo on the opposite side like Hutchinson did.
Thibodeaux saw an awful lot of double and triple teams, not to mention he played more 6-tech and 5-tech in 2 or 3 games than Hutchinson and Ojabo did combined all season - guess by eye test.

22. CINCINNATI BENGALS: CB ROGER MCCREARY, AUBURN

McCreary has had one of the best cornerback careers of the PFF College era, and his 2021 campaign is his best yet. The Auburn corner earned 78.0 and 80.8 PFF grades in 2019 and 2020, and he possesses an FBS-high 90.3 mark through Week 12 of 2021. He’s always at the catch point and rarely loses, as only Stingley has forced more tight coverage than McCreary since 2019. He’s smart, fast and scheme-versatile. Even in a talented corner class, McCreary is an easy first-rounder in my eyes.

I like this one

27. DETROIT LIONS: WR TREYLON BURKS, ARKANSAS

Burks has been a big-play threat over the last couple of years thanks to his size, physicality and speed. The 6-foot-3, 225-pound wide receiver has averaged 9.3 yards after the catch per reception and broken 23 tackles on 108 receptions since 2020. He’s hauled in all 19 of his catchable vertical route targets in that span for 697 yards and nine touchdowns.

Every write up claims he did not produce because all teams planned around him specifically. However, I doubt the same is not true for Hutchinson or any other elite pass rusher. Seems like teams are able to phase him out, but not others.

28. DALLAS COWBOYS: S JAQUAN BRISKER, PENN STATE

Brisker has been one of college football's top safeties since he transferred in from JUCO in 2019, as he is on pace to earn his third straight 80.0-plus single-season PFF grade with the Nittany Lions. Brisker's run defense and tackling have dipped a bit in 2021 due to playing closer to the line of scrimmage than in previous years, but he’s hardly made a mistake in coverage. Brisker has a couple of interceptions and four pass breakups en route to an 89.3 coverage grade this season. He’s a smart and heady player who has a high floor.

29. BALTIMORE RAVENS: S DAXTON HILL, MICHIGAN

Hill may be the only player who can challenge Stingley's status as the top athlete in this class. At The Opening event in high school, Hill posted a 4.3-second 40-yard dash, 4.13-second pro agility and 43.6-inch vertical. Hill has put those traits into action while primarily covering the slot in his 2021 true junior campaign, earning a 78.5 coverage grade overall this season. Specifically in the slot, Hill has seven forced incompletions and nine passing stops, ranking second and seventh in the FBS. He is versatile and a high-ceiling player in the 2022 class.

30. GREEN BAY PACKERS: WR JAHAN DOTSON, PENN STATE

Dotson has grown significantly throughout his four years at Penn State. He has greatly improved his speed and explosiveness while becoming a strong route-runner with elite ball skills. Dotson has earned an 84.5 PFF grade so far in 2021 and has dropped only two of his 129 total targets. The Nittany Lion is a promising receiver despite not being the most physical at 5-foot-11 and 184 pounds.

I watch him every week. I wouldn't want the Lions to draft him... Aidan Hutchinson would most likely be nothing more than a Marketing Tool for the Organization to be a Fan favorite to sell tickets. For the Organization to throw something together to make the Playoffs to be one-and-done, I'll pass.

Dane Bruglar drops his first 2022 mock draft and has the Lions selecting Hutchinson and Treylon Burks. He compares Burks to an AJ Brown type of receiver.

He wasn't so positive regarding Olave though. He stated Olave isn't the YAC type of WR for the NFL but wins on precise route running and good hands.

The link below has an 18-minute podcast cast where Bruglar discusses Hutchinson, Thibodeaux, 1st off the board QB Kenny Pickett, Ojabo going mid-first round, QB's Ridder and Willis and WR's London, Olave and Dotson.
