Doubt he is going anywhere. The cheap type of player that fits in the Nutting cost model, with that said if someone is willing to overpay you take it.

Had an opportunity to sell high a few years back and blew it.

Another wasted first round pick gone.

Well, Josh Bell is gone and did not yield much of a return, though I'm not sure what could have realistically been expected given the year he just had.

So true but outside a few good months the rest of his career wasn't barely above average.
Anyway I agree not much in return but the market for a below average fielding first baseman isn't one that normally would yield a lot.
I think though the reason the took the offer was due to the fact both prospects were high on the Nationals list?

Big question what will they do at first base now? Colin Moran full-time with Hayes at 3rd?

Moran will most likely be the regular 1B. He might actually be adequate there in the short term. He'll slug a bit and will probably be an upgrade from Bell defensively.

Overall, the lineup is going to be a disaster in 2021.

The pitching could actually be decent, assuming they keep Musgrove, but a lot of things will have to go right with the likes of Keller,Taillon and Kuhl.

One of the prospects they got back was the #10 prospect in all of baseball...so maybe better than it looks.

But this organization is such a sham. I’ve completely written them off. I can’t support this crap.

Shaping up to be one of the historically bad teams. 100+ loses goes without saying.

Didn't realize either was that high? I thought the one was the tenth best prospect on the Nationals?
If that is the case you make that trade 100% of the time especially with a team in such sad shape. Bell really has zero short or long-term value for the Pirates.

FWIW...they are now showing Yean as #7 prospect for the Pirates and the other guy isn't on the list.

Ohhh... maybe I read it wrong! You may be right...if so that’s my fault! What you’re saying seems more buccoesque.

well then I assume I’m wrong .

buccos gonna Bucco... I mean it’s as bad or worse than the lions in football....just sheer futility and crap for ages.

Honestly I don't know either. I read different reports and none seem to be well written.

In any case you are correct this is just the Pirates doing what they do best and they are truly the Lions of Baseball.
Just think both teams you hear the same crap, along with the "hey at least they play in a nice stadium" comments way too often.

Yep. Or the “we’re making moves for the future” over and over and over

Not that I expected much out of him but this kills any hope of him getting trade value.

Yean has a really high ceiling.

Based on what he showed in 2019, he might have been really highly ranked right now had there been minor league baseball in 2020.

Crowe is kind of just a guy who was probably acquired to replace Musgrove, who is apparently drawing a lot interest from teams and will likely be traded.

Musgrove is gone. Really don’t know much about the prospects coming back but the one was #7 on the Padres.
