Caught in a Mosh
Between the early departures for the draft and the transfers, what are we up to 20 kids leaving the team now? Something smells very rotten.
Almost all are grad transfers who will never see field other than special teams. Makes sense to transfer with their degree. 2 were to be closer to home for family medical issues and were kids who were never going to play, Darien and Faison. The kids going pro were no surprise, Miller was pretty much forgone conclusion before season, Sanders won't raise stock any unless he suddenly shaves .2 off 40 time, Mcgovern and Bates were assumed leaning before season, Givens was only surprise in that group. Only guy in portal that could have an impact on field is Wade and its no guarantee he wins starting job, thus his entry to portal to keep options open.
Kids leaving other than NFL are guys we wouldn't even be offering now. They got passed by on depth chart by yo0unger, more talented players. This happens when schools recruit like we do now, get used to it. You will see more attrition based on players getting passed by, the fact we try to graduate kids in 3-3.5 years to keep that promise of a degree and the transfer portal making it impossible to block kids from other schools unless there is a conference rule about transferring in conference. you don't see schools like Bama, OSU worrying about their players going pro or kids hwo won't contribute transeferring. Its business as usual if you want to get to elite.
