Speeds at the Michigan test have topped out at 217 mph. Yikes. They're definitely gonna do something to slow them down

I read that earlier and I said to myself no way NASCAR will let them run that fast. Would be awesome though..

With failing ratings and attendance at the tracks declining, I can't think of a faster way to improve both than to let them run at those speeds. These are adults, they know the risks they have signed on for, and most are capable of handling a race car at the pace.

DW has already stated it would be completely stupid to restrict the speeds by changing the engines with the idea of reducing the horsepower with a new engine design NASCAR has in mind for next year. I don't often agree with DW because I think he is a bit of a homer, but in this case he is spot on.

It's not the drivers they are concerned about, its the fans. Once you're over 210, it doesn't take much to get those cars airborne. That's the #1 reason NASCAR avoids speeds that fast (and rightly so)

But as far as driver safety goes, I'd be very concerned with speeds around 220 mph. The cars don't have a lot of downforce (compared to other race cars) and will become very unstable at those speeds. A slight wind change be it natural wind or from side drafts could easily lead to disaster.

This week it is the track too tough to tame and the famous Darlington stripe. Usually Hendricks cars do well here.

One of the best tracks out there. Unique in every way. We need a second race here. Fucking NASCAR sucks at making sound decisions. :tsk:

:agree:Sweet! It would be really fabulous if one of the RPM cars won this race.

With Ambroses driving style I predict he earns his stripe from the Lady in Black, so don't see him winning.

So, we are off to Richmond this Saturday night? Probably my favorite track. Short and fast.

Jeffy Gordon is now talking retirement because of a failing back that is leaving him in constant pain according to a report released by Yahoo Sports. Could this be the end of Jeffy's career as a driver? Perhaps?
