I would spend the money on Darvish before I would ever consider spending it on that fat sloth Fielder. If you're going to throw that kind of cash at a first baseman it should be Pujols. However, I really think we should focus on resigning the great players we have (CJ, Hamilton, etc.) and try to add to the pitching as much as possible.

why buy a guy for that much money who is old, fielder is 27 and is in his prime and we can get him and keep our players the rangers have now its not one or the other.....and i dont want to waste money on an unknown pitcher who might be good or might not

Because what happened to bigger guys like Moe Vaughn after they signed free agent contracts? Bigger guys just break down faster than normal players. Albert may be older but I bet he's in a lot better shape than Fielder.

Fielder isnt in as bad of shape as yall think... he's just a bigger guy. Look at his dad.. it obviously runs in the family.
Heck, he's a vegetarian apparently.
Since '06 he has almost played in EVERY game...... EVERY game.

Would I bring him to Arlington? No... but only b/c of the contract. (since our key people are about to hit free agency in the coming year(s))

That said, he would have MONSTER numbers in our ballpark.

I think Mike Olt will be our first baseman two years from now.

He would hit monster numbers and play a horrible first base. The only way I would consider bringing him here is to play DH but I think we pretty well have that covered.

Yes I have. He looks like a fat oaf who has booted multiple balls throughout the season. Sorry, but no on fielder please.

Now i'm not saying to go get Fielder... I'm just saying he would be an upgrade to what we are rolling out there now...

I like him in that he knows how to pitch, is a workhouse and gets strikeouts

BUT very troubling is the high numbers of HRs he gives up, seems like Colby Lewis with a better fastball

I think he's somewhere between who he was this year )great) and last year (when he was horendous),

I think long term look at his 2009 season to get an idea of who he is, maybe slightly better

the homers are a concern but the 16 CG's and 6 shutouts in 6 seasons looks good

of the 2, Fielder or Pujols, i would lean more toward Pujols. Pujols, in my opinion, is better because he can play multiple positions, 1B, 3B & OF, and his offensive numbers are equivalent to Fielder. over the 11 seasons, Pujols has averaged 40 homers, 120 RBI's and only committed 7.18 Errors per season. Fielder, in his 7 seasons, has averaged 32.8 homers, 93.1 rbi's and 9.7 errors.

Can't help wondering if Carlos Zambrano is Bi-Polar or had some Mental Illness that none of us is aware of. Is this something that we are going to find out about years later. Guys like Charles Haley and Herscel Walker has personality disorders that proper drugs and medication now control. Zambrano could have some emotional issues right now that he just can't control. Not a Doctor myself. But this is a real possibility.

I'm thinking you have it backwards. Hamilton, Kinsler and Napoli get the bucks before CJ gets ace money. Cruz may be a payroll casualty.

thats what im saying as well also while saying dont waste money on darvish......and also for those people that dont go to baseball reference i believe the rangers only have 66 mil payroll so far next year and 33 mil the next year and 16 mil after that so the rangers have room to sign their players while bringing in other FA' s.........

I say Go after Fielder! I don't know how much he would cost but having Fielder, Kinsler, BEltre, Young, Napoli, Cruz and Hamilton. That Would be Legendary!! That would be hard to stop on any night!

So then I guess Andrus is a horrible shortstop?

Based on your definition of course...

Not at all. Elvis' errors are mostly due to mental lapses which should improve with maturity. Fielder's errors are often due to him being a fat sloth.

we have them under control for 2012, we need to handle what we don't first. Get CJ and Gonzalez sign first. then you have time to sign the others to extensions.
