Ok, so you know how I just get these offseason "visions" or hankerings about our catching situation (like when I knew TOR would send Nap or that we would sign AJ)? Well I got one that I can't kick. I'm in no way for this, but I think we roll with Chirinos and search for a backup. The guy I just have a feeling we will get is none other than Taylor Teagarden.

I don't know why and I don't want him, but think he will end up back as a Ranger from the Cubs.

Other than a few years, what's the upside of him over Gimenez?

You say, "except possibly Colby." OK, if we don't sign Lewis then name our 5 starters for 2016, and you can't pencil in Darvish.

well it is just my gut speaking but we could go in with Hamels, Gonzalez, Holland, Martinez and Perez. or if we sign Colby it could be Hamels, Lewis, Holland, Gonzalez & Perez. hopefully JD has something up his sleeve but the pickings are getting awful small if we are talking Teagarden

I am reading this morning that we have met with Joe Nathan and are intrigued by Cliff Lee.

Saw the Nathan thing. Don't really get it, I'm assuming it was just the polite thing to do.
I have thought we would be interested in Nathan as soon as I heard he was having surgery last April. That is what JD likes to do. He likes to sign someone who is desperate for a chance to a lowball contract hoping the player gets healthy and productive. I would not be surprised at all to see us sign Nathan and hope he has something in the second half of the season.

He's 73 years old and will be coming off his second TJ surgery. I'd be shocked if he signed with the Rangers.

I have zero interest in Lee. If we signed him it would only be to put him on IR because he needs surgery. He just needs to retire.

Morton had an ERA of almost 5 in the NL last year.

But the two years before that he had 2.36 and 2.72. So maybe he'll come back down this next year. But I hear your concerns.

This could become a multi-player deal perhaps.

It was mentioned earlier that signing guys like Lee and Nathan is part of JD's MO. But in this case, I'd be concerned with the 40 man roster positions in regards to these two guys.

And I'm on pretty much on board with ya about Lee and his "future potential."
