Lakers passed on Podz, Jaquez, Whitmore, and TJD to take a PG that's probably 2 years away from contributing. WTF were they thinking? Typically their draft scouting has been about the only strong suit of the Lakers FO the last decade or so, but that was a bad miss

you surround Lebron with shooters. Not a project who clearly wasn't going to be able to contribute on that end in year 1.

I'd suspect every athlete deals with back pain of some degree at some point. Especially 6 foot 10 dudes.

People even have debilitating back issues that end careers.

People don't have debilitating back injuries that allow them to shoot And 1 videos in the offseason and they're "ready to go and excited" and then when the season starts their back is injured again.

The debilitating nerve issue doesn't come and go. That's completely ridiculous.
He showed up and then claimed a back injury when it was time to take the court and then refused to allow Sixers medical staff to evaluate him.

Yeah, don't mind him seeing his own doctors...don't even mind him following the advice of his own doctors over the Sixers doctors if there is conflict.

But you have to allow the team that's paying you millions of dollars to have their doctors examine you as well.

Especially in the light of that particular situation where he or his agency leaked their intent to never play another game for the Sixers. It reeked of “let’s find a way to get paid while not playing.”

And yet now it’s been proven false

the one thing I will say that seems mental is dude going from a 60 to 65 percent free throw shooter to 40?

How does that happen

In terms of just adding talent, sure. Where does Jaquez or Whitmore fit in the rotation? They already had Rui, Lebron, and Vanderbilt at forward for the majority of the minutes (and added Ham's personal favorite Prince to take more than his share of minutes). With Vando out injured there are minutes available, but that clearly wasn't the plan.

Jaquez would be perfect in either forward spot, allowing them to be able to stagger minutes properly between Vando, Rui, and AD to ensure the team can always stay big. With Jaquez, we could have gotten away from those awful 3 guard line ups. You could got bigger with some line ups too playing Lebron at 1 with Reaves, Jaquez, Rui/Vando, AD. Just a number of versatile potential with a ready made player like him. Doesn't matter now, but they really whiffed on not getting a player that could contribute right now. Either should have drafted one of those guys I mentioned or shipped the pick out in a trade for someone that could play

Rookies rarely contribute on good teams

But they did waive two fat salaries they could’ve attached to that pick to land a veteran
