^ this is a fair point... IIRC a lot of these lost games were towards the very beginning of the year.

Looking at records and rankings at the end of the year, I think my point holds up.
I also admit that a straight win/loss for interconference is not the end-all-be-all. Nobody will see the 7-3 Pac-12 record and think they are the best. I think the SEC mystique has passed the actual product at this point, and they found a loophole to hammer home their bias in the vote.

It will make for better games no question.

I would not argue against Georgia or Alabama from a talent standpoint, this vote is supposed to be about who earned it. An undefeated power 5 has earned it. screwing their season because an injury happened in football is asinine.
$$$ talks. Like I said earlier, there was an obvious top 4 based on what happened and they bumped Alabama up anyways.

Imagine if the Eagles weren't allowed to go to the Super Bowl when Carson Wentz got injured. Thats college football.

Georgia was screwed by the refs in the SEC Championship.

A blown call at the end of the 1st half gifted Alabama a 1st down, which led to a TD. It was a (at least) 7 point swing in a very close game.

Perhaps.

Underneath all the talk is the fact that the SEC is the strongest conference, though. (And we can't close our eyes to the fact that FSU is down their star QB)

Given what went down yesterday, I can concede the top 4 probably worked out as 'fairly' as it could, though... in virtue of their ref-assisted win, Bama got in over FSU... which shouldn't be a big problem because Bama is almost certainly a better team than FSU sans their top QB.
It shouldn’t matter if their QB is out. They won all of their games, that is the only thing that matters. Alabama should not be in the playoffs. The committee’s job isn’t to make sure a game isn’t a bloodbath. Odds are Bama would be favorites over Florida State but the Seminoles even without their QB is much better than Auburn.

It would be pretty shocking if Bama stomped Michigan. They played well yesterday. They also needed a miracle to beat Auburn last week. They are not some juggernaut. Michigan has won all but one of their games by double digits and has yet to be behind in the 2nd half of a single game all season.

Should be a pretty good game.
I think it's the toughest matchup for Michigan. They have dominated opponents in the trenches this season. I don't think they can dominate Bama there

Who thinks Fla St with a shitty qb could beat any of the top 10 teams right now?

Yeah, well, you know... that's just, like, your opinion, man.

I don't see why some consideration of who are the best teams on the field at the end of the season can't be part of the process too.

Georgia was untested too... For years..

Bama been in the trenches all year... Georgia didn't like that feeling when they got down and pressure set in... They haven't had to deal with it this year.

I guarantee you two things, Michigan ain't running Bama out the stadium and Michigan will feel the pressure.. Let's hope they don't crack and get TCU'd...

They would get destroyed by Michigan, Alabama and Texas. Not sold on Washington but they'd also have an advantage over FSU, IMO.
The committee made the right call leaving FSU out. Maybe could have gone Georgia over Washington but I get why they didn't.
Think we most likely see a Texas-Alabama National Championship game matchup, which would absolutely prove the committee right.

It they can throw out records and leave out an undefeated team why leave out Georgia? There's no doubt they're one of the 4 best teams.

Why even play the season at all? Let's just put USC and Colorado in the playoffs too, if we're ignoring the records on the field?
Dude
Just stop
Would you bet you car on fsu winning the opening cfp game?

FSU got so fucked over.

The committee clearly has an SEC bias.

Ok sure, but if the whole consideration thing is a thing then it should be Georgia, Alabama, Texas and Washington. Or Texas, Michigan, Ohio State and Washington.

Michigan, Washington, FSU, Texas.

Texas is in over Bama because of h2h. And I know FSU will be controversial, but to me an undefeated power conference champion has to be in, even if they aren't at 100%. Otherwise why even bother playing the games?

Yeah FSU earned a spot! They have every right to be pissed … This is why I’m dam happy they’re expanding the playoffs next year, no undefeated team will ever get left out again …

Washington will be the first team to take a TCU style ass whipping home... Just wish it would be Georgia giving it to them...

Florida St gone find out when they get the Dogs...

Maybe it's not an either/or... as in, either they go with some process/formula or they go with the best teams.

Rather, maybe it's a both/and. As in: they factor in both process/formula and the best teams and come up with a compromise decision that accounts for each type of consideration.
