By no means am I thinking the Steelers are a SB contender but trying to understand how all these folks think this team is no good? They might have the most depth on defense in as long as I could remember and their O-line is looking solid.
Yeah, I get the uncertainty at QB, ILB and DB but nothing so far has shown these to be a gaping holes.
I don't get how they can cite lack of depth and put teams like the Falcons, Panthers, Browns, Dolphins, & Jets ahead of them? Steelers certainly have more depth than those teams, and a better defense with all-pro talent at every level.

If the Steelers dominate the 9ers in week 1 at Heinz, then I bet these media outlets will suddenly wake up.

Dotson traded to Rams.

Steelers get 4th and 5th

Rams get 5th and 6th and Dotson.
This is a homerun. A slam dunk. Dotson was on the bubble and still had some value. Herbig is likely the primary backup IOL with Spencer Anderson leading the charge behind him. A 4th Rd pick for a player that debatably never proved that sort of worth is awesome.

And it freed up just under 3 million on the cap.

He was gonna get cut anyway. He wasn't even going to be the primary IOL backup with Herbig. And they would have probably cut Anderson to keep Dotson. Also saved a chunk of cap space trading him.

Basically recouped the draft pick investment in the player.

Steelers OL:

LT: Dan Moore Jr, Broderick Jones
LG: Isaac Seumalo, Spencer Anderson
OC: Mason Cole, Nate Herbig
RG: James Daniels, Kendrick Green
RT: Chuks, Le'Raven Clark

If they only keep 9 it comes down to Green and Clark.

I seriously don't understand how/why anyone would think Green had trade value. If another team actually wanted him they would just wait until he gets cut.

As for Dotson there wasn't that guarantee he would get cut and if so there would be takers. So, I think this was a huge win for the Steelers.

He was a relatively high draft pick. I wouldn't expect more than a 6th, but I wouldn't entirely discount the possibility he would be traded to a delusional and OL needy team.

IMO the outcry has more to do with the angst over the possibility of KG making the 53... Which I can fully understand lol.

There is still time to make a move there.

As the HOF GM Jim Rutherford said about Jack Johnson. "He has never been given a chance" :D

I think the Steelers will be in every game and be fun to watch. We're in a stacked division and a stacked conference though. I wouldn't be surprised if the record doesn't show exactly how good they are. Still... 34% seems very low.

There have to be FA backup OL who hit the market in final cuts and PS designations who are better than KG.

In other news: Devin Bush sucks, and they had him covering punts and playing into the 3rd quarter this PS. If they didn't guarantee him $3MM already, he'd be gone.

As it is, Seattle is looking to trade him. Good luck!

^knee injury obviously killed his career.

Anyway their starting ILBs from last year, it looks like neither will be in the NFL this year as Jack retired.

Here is Devin “controller disconnect” Bush’s interview after his first game in Seattle.

I think Jack had some level of serviceability left in him, but his heart just wasn't in it anymore.

Bush... If it weren't for him acting so entitled before his exit here I would have some sympathy. But obviously not everyone is lining up out the door for his services like he thought. Good luck in the USFL or CFL.

LB... Looks like Mark Robinson is here to stay now that Muse is out of the way... Love it.. Holcomb, Alexander, Roberts & Robinson are a formidable corps. Those dudes are lookin to bring some fear back into the ILB presence. Gotta admit its somewhat ironic that the Steeler release Muse the same day the 'Hawks are allegedly lookin to shop Bush. Don't forget about Kwiatkowski too.

S... Robinson was a Pgh product & a fan favorite for a bit. But he got outperformed in the end. Only recall a few practices when Minkah wasn't in where he got some decent looks. Thompson came in & made us all forget about him though.
