I was thinking the logistics would be a problem, but are they really? Few teams have even their first playoff game set.
Yes - because you have TV slots already pared out - you have fans who already have known they need to travel, or have a home game, who have planned and made arrangements for work, hotels, etc...you have crew at those stadiums who are already scheduled - just to point out a few of the logistic issues.

It's more than just "Oh, well, we have this week open, so we'll push everyone back a week" - especially for ONE. GAME.

I'm betting dollar to donuts that it will be a no-contest, and will not be announced until AFTER this weekends' games to prevent a team like CIN from sitting its starters (BUF wins on Sat, then they lock up the #2 seed, and with a no-contest Bengals are already AFCN Champions - so no need to play guys a full game Sunday).

I agree it should be canceled, and the Bills and Bengals will likely push for that outcome.

I'm sure flight and hotel reservations in January aren't too tough to move, and we're talking about weekend games as far as work impact. The TV slots would be the bigger issue IMO.

Considering the rookies and second year players we've added to the squad this season I don't think it's that bad. Definitely gonna have to add more pieces in the off season though. Personally I'd go with another pass rusher and another corner...

LB I think we're good IF Chenal can improve. Karlaftis is coming along just fine imo...

Can't have enough pass rushers, corners and safeties these days.

Not so sure about the second part, but we'll see...

10 single score outcomes for the Chiefs this year, 2 10 pt margins (wins over Jags and Bucs) and only 4 with more than a 10 pt margin (all against the NFC West strangely enough). 75% is reasonable, if maybe a bit high? Stidham's surprise performance vs the Niners makes this more interesting than I would've expected.

Which of these applies to this game? There is no procedure for medical emergency.
"e.g." means those are only examples. A medical emergency is also covered.

Provide an example of a prior medical emergency suspending a game. The fact that medical emergency wasn't even listed indicates that they did not foresee the chance of such an occurrence.

You are wrong. All NFL games have massive amounts of medical personnel on hand.... even a dentist for dental emergencies.

So, provide me an example of another NFL game being postponed for a medical emergency in the modern era then. Having all of that personnel on hand would lead me to assume they have the utmost confidence that such a postponement would NOT be needed.

The problem with that solution is that the Ravens will feel particularly screwed if they come into Cincinnati and win this weekend. They will own two wins over the Bengals, have a better division record and have the same number of wins. If the league rules, after the game, that the Bengals/Bills game is a "no-contest" that would mean the Bengals win the division and the Ravens would have to come back to Cincinnati the very next week to try to knock off a division opponent for the second time in a week and three times in a season.

It hasn't happened, which is why they are free to choose the most logical outcome and end the game after 8.5 minutes of real football.

No matter what the NFL does - someone is getting screwed.

Someone is always going to be unhappy. Fact of the matter is - Ravens had chances to win more games, and didn't. Sucks, but it is what it is. There's also the chance the Bengals lose this weekend because they don't end up playing everyone. Maybe they get wind that the NFL will declare the MNF game a no-contest, Bills win on Saturday - so Bengals will be locked into the #3 seed regardless....meaning, we'll never know if the Bengals would have won.

The reality is - the game has no real way of being made up. Too late in the season, and moving everything back a week is not nearly as simple as many people seem to think it is. Logistically, it messes with a lot of things already in place. You can't make them play 3 games in 10 days. NFLPA, nor the players, would ever agree to that. You can't give them a W or a L or a tie....so, no-contest is the best way forward.

Bengals also get screwed because what if KC loses to the Raiders? CIN could have had a Bye. CIN could also be in the running for the #2 seed regardless of Bills outcome if they win against Ravens, but now are dependent on a NE win to have a shot. It's not like Bmore is the only team getting a raw deal.

And here's the thing, if the NFL had already had a rule in place for this instance - a contingency plan in place for whatever happens when a game cannot be played to completion due to injury, weather, outside influences, etc...this wouldn't be nearly the issue it is right now because the rule would have been made when the situation was not still fresh, emotions are high, and people are on edge. The right way to handle any situation in which a game cannot be played to completion is to call the game a no-contest. It's a no-brainer. If you wanted to put in a caveat that if more than 1/2 the game is played then a winner or a tie can be awarded, or 3 quarters - I'm fine with that, too - but the bottom line is, to me, it's inconceivable that the NFL doesn't have something in place to already have this covered....especially knowing how weather and dire injuries have impacted past games.

Bills game is Sunday at 1pm. Screwed is an awful aggressive term for potentially losing one game of home field. Have we already forgotten what happened Monday night?

There are rules for weather interruptions; the games are completed either that day or soon thereafter. No prior game has been postponed due to injury. Covid rescheduled games that hadn't started, but that's different. Games have always been completed, but that was before a game was suspended for injury for the first time Monday night.

Keep holding your breath for that outcome, lol.
I'm not. It's the smartest outcome. Doesn't mean they'll choose it. I've already said in another thread what is typically done in these situations.

Not tap dancing anything. This is the first occurrence of it's kind. There is no policy in place for this, or the NFL would've already announced the plan forward. In this world run by lawyers, exclusion of a reference to medical emergency precludes it from the weather emergency rules. Even if it was implied, that is not the letter of the law.

It's not the smartest outcome. 9 minutes is not a completed game.

Doesn't matter, the rule covers any kind of emergency. It's open-ended on purpose. The only question would be whether something is an emergency.

But the rule gives the Commissioner a lot of discretion to call off the game ("If, in the Commissioner’s opinion, it is reasonable to project that the resumption of an interrupted game would not change its ultimate result or adversely affect any other inter-team competitive issue, the Commissioner is empowered to terminate the game.") If only the Bills and Bengals would have anything to gain by playing that game, and they both request for the game not to be played, the Commissioner would probably agree.

If Cincinnati beats the Ravens, no other team besides the Bills and Bengals would have anything to gain from that game being played.
