I was thinking they were closer to retooling in KC so I don't think they want to deal prospects. This was more of a go-for-it move for us and a retooling for them. And yes, I do sell Kelenic short but would be happy if another team sold long on him. It’s tough but personally I’m not a Whit guy. I love Perez but also think maybe you are selling a tad low on kelenic here. I’d prefer Bobby Witt or Lacy over Whit. Good hypothetical tho
Perez is the huge upgrade in this deal. Merrifield is a good addition if you use him as a utility piece playing daily. He and Frazier are a lot alike (4.6 WAR vs 4.1 for Frazier over last 2 seasons), but his ability to play multiple positions and ability to steal bases is what I like.I think Whit is what just kills this for me. KC made a mistake not dealing him a couple years ago, plus I think the Frazier acquisition makes his skillset somewhat redundant anyway. Offensively he just doesn't provide a ton if you are basing it off last year.
Nothing to talk about so here is a hypothetical. Would you or wouldn't you?
Kelenic and Raleigh
for
Merrifield and Perez
I am always fascinated to see reactions to things I see a particular way.
i would say ...if ...if.....no..story..then a trade for...marrifield would seem..in order...if he was..available...Nothing to talk about so here is a hypothetical. Would you or wouldn't you?

Perez is definitely the biggest impact piece in this deal. Unless Ford becomes a star, the Mariners might not have a starting catcher in the system. I see Raleigh as more of a backup at this point unless he really works on his pitch framing and other things defensively. I can live with the mediocre if the defense is better. I just have to agree to disagree on Whit, I dont think he provides anything we dont have already. But yeah I guess I still view Kelenic high and Perez is great but not sure what he will be like in 2 years when we are really supposed to hit our true window when everyone else is ready.Perez is the huge upgrade in this deal. Merrifield is a good addition if you use him as a utility piece playing daily. Again all this is hypothetical and will never happen, but a deal like this would be interesting to see. And by 'like this' I mean two vets of higher quality for two youngsters of prospective value.

Only reason I am a no is because IMO Kelenic is worth more than Merrifield. I don’t know who else KC has that could be tossed in for that trade.Nothing to talk about so here is a hypothetical. Would you or wouldn't you?
