Day to Day
The 2021 Patriots' Draft has paid huge dividends Comments and Critiques:
Round 1: No. 15 – Mac Jones, QB, Alabama
Somehow, the best QB of the class of 2021 fell fifteen picks and into Bill Belichick's lap. Mac has started every game and become a steady improving leader of the offense every week. There have to be four other teams saying to themselves "What if?"
Round 2: No. 38 (from CIN) – Christian Barmore, DT, Alabama
He was an outstanding force in the NCAA Championship gem but somehow was overlooked by everyone until BB picked again at 47. Barmore started slow but by the fifth game was a solid starter and disruptive force in the middle of the Patriots front seven.
Round 3: No. 96 – Ronnie Perkins, DE, Oklahoma
Perkins was on Injured Reserve for most of training camp and the first several games of the season. He was active for the Cleveland game but didn't see any action. It's expected that he will be getting more and more playing time over the final 8 games of the season and into the playoffs
Round 4: No. 120 – Rhamondre Stevenson, RB, Oklahoma
Stevenson fumbled in the first game and found himself on the sidelines for the next three games. When he was put back into the rotation, he took control and has had two outstanding games in a row. When Damien Harris returns from the Concussion Protocol
the patriot running game will be a nightmare for opposing defenses.
Round 5: No. 177 – Cameron McGrone, LB, Michigan
Non Football (NFL) injury list and will reman for 2021. Will get his opportunity in 2022.
Round 6: No. 188 – Joshua Bledsoe, S, Missouri
IR and will remain on it for the 2021 season. Has been watching from the sideline every game and is learning. He'll know what it will take in 2022.
Round 6: No. 197 – William Sherman, OT, Colorado
Practice squad for 2021. Should be ready to take over for either Wynn or Brown in 2022.
Round 7: No. 242 – Tre Nixon, WR, UCF
Practice squad for 2021. Needed to learn and be in on every practice. He will will be ready to to compete for a spot in 2022.
Bill and Zig hit it out of the park in 2021. Having more voices than Caserio proved to be a much better way for Bill to make the final decision in every round.
