I think the Rams think they are making a move that helps them win now, but what they did in actuality is secure that they will have no future come 2 years from now. They will be QB shopping once again while Detroit possibly has a QB that can be the future. I see this as a huge step forward for Detroit and a huge step back for the Rams.
Yeah but being the QB of the future in Detroit still means playing for Detroit in the future...

All I can say is LOL! This is funny as shit. 2 firsts, a third, and Goofy for a rather old Stafford? OMG!!!!!!!! This like a unlikely TV plot! Who the fuck gives that much for Stafford? Some really fucked up managed front office, that's who. :hurt:

For that price they should of gotten Watson. What dip shits!!!!! :hurt:

Goff is also trash and had the worst SB in history. The guy is Sam Darnold, Daniel Jones bad and the whole league knows it. Stafford is far superior in every way and the Lions got nothing that can help them right away. Those picks could well be late round which is pretty much the same as second rounders these days.
Goff has a 91 career passer rating and 3 playoff wins under his belt. In 2018, he put up NFL caliber numbers as a starter. You cannot logically put him in the same category as Sam Darnold.

Stafford has an 89.9 career passer rating and 0 playoff wins.

Even if they the Lions cut Goff lose, they still get 2 first rounds picks and a 3rd rounder out of the deal. The Lions have the ability to either trade up for Fields or Wilson OR get multiple playmakers to compliment Goff on the offensive side.

I fully understand that Stafford has plenty of gas in the tank, but the Rams handicuffed Stafford with less opportunities to get weapons to compliment him.

Can they cut Goff loose? The guarantees and dead cap that he has attached to that contract might make that impossible for the next two years.

I keep reading that if Stafford weren't in Detroit, he would have a 110 career passer rating and multiple Super Bowl rings.

WTF?
Way too much for Stafford. OMG what will Watson go for?
He ain’t getting traded.

I’m interested in seeing what Goff gets traded for, to another team.

Eight teams offered atleast a first for Staff...

Love all the “Rams gave up too much” stuff...

Their window is NOW. If they have to pay the piper later and get to look at that trophy while paying, then it’s worth it.
Should of got Watson for what they gave up. Watson price tag just took a jump.

Goff was worth an aging and less-successful vet QB.

He's worth a low end first, maybe a middle tier first. Not worth what the Rams gave up.

I don’t see how anyone could afford him.

Unless the Texans continue to be the Texans.

Watson isn’t going to retire, he signed the deal. He’ll end up honoring it, I think.

Jets and a haul or screw it as far as the Texans are concerned IMO.

He'll honor it if he is given no other choice. But it's clear that what Green Bay is doing to Aaron Rodgers, Houston is starting to do already to DeShaun Watson. Not giving him any help and no signs of any will to help him either.

Rogers was still in Green Bay last I looked.

I can't fault either team for this trade. Seems great on both sides which is disheartening (given Seattle/NFC fan).

Stafford is WAAAAAAAY better than Goff, and the Rams should consider themselves in win now mode while they have their supporting cast on offense and defense around. 2 1sts is an overpay but shipping Goff is ALSO an overpay for Detroit as the Rams stupidly gave Goff a ridiculous contract. I DO NOT LIKE THIS as a Seattle fan.

Meanwhile Detroit will whatever it this season and then build a new regime.

The party getting screwed in this trade is Goff, who will likely be earning far less in a couple years while Detroit moves on from him completely.

A grade Rams, A grade Lions. About as boring of a trade as you could get... FUCK YOU RAMS!

You talking Staff or Goff?

Staff is evidently worth a slightly less talented former #1 pick, what will be 20somerhing picks and a third.

I’m not sure Goff could net a first. But I’d love to see it.
