If they trade him straight up for Foles this board might implode....
I would laugh my ass off!
Only thing I could see better would be Wentz going to the browns to be Mayfields back up! :omg:

Brown fans would have a field day with Eagle fans.
Of course Eagle fans should have known they were headed to dark days when Hue Jackson said he wanted Wentz. thats a death sentence in any language. LOL

It's not that another team won't trade for his contract it's that the Eagles just can't take on the cap hit of trading him. They are $64M over the 2021 cap right now according to Spotrac. That is with Wentz costing them $35M in cap hit. If the link you quoted is even close to accurate ($59M dead money) and I assume it is because it matches Spotrac, they couldn't possibly take that on with dismantling the team. The would be much better served waiting one more year to make their decision after 2021 when his dead money is $24M (less than his cap hit if he stays)
i guess. But sometimes u just suck it up, say you screwed up and move on. Rumors are hes not the best team mate anyways, do you keep him around just to infect more.?

There isn't a team in the NFL that hasn't screwed something like this up. It's just the nature of the beast and anyone that says they haven't or has all the answers is lying.

i guess, but they're on the hook no matter what, with or without him.......
does raise a question if anyone knows.
What happens if a team doesnt get under the cap at whatever deadlines?
I mean they're not gonna bar a team from playing. What would the NFL do?

Actually, this isn't over and I'm not so sure. I seem to recall a lot of people talking about the Rams making this same mistake with Goff about a year ago. While the situation isn't 100% the same, the arguments seem to be. The difference is a year and the Rams are good and Goff got things right. I'm guessing most of that was McVay getting it and him right. I don't know if Peterson will be able to do that for Wentz, as right now he seems broken, but you just never know.

Good question. It's tricky in a situation like this. The league can disallow a move or cancel a contract that puts you over the cap (if you just signed a FA you couldn't afford they cancel that contract) so it wouldn't happen after the date that all teams need to be under the cap. But if it happens beforehand I guess they could reverse the trade but that would also hurt the team that trades for him. They can fine you or prevent you from signing anyone else or fine you draft picks or prevent you from drafting players but again if the damage is already done I'm not sure what exactly they would do let's say if the season were about to begin. My guess (total guess) is they would reverse the trade and fine the Hell out of you? Or maybe just the latter but really screw you over so badly that no one would ever do it again? I don't see them telling a team they forfeit a game, but that's what I would do. Let's hope we find out with Philly next year :suds:

Ppl saying that albatross contract , he’s not tradeable are wrong. Eagles eat money and whoever trades him gets what is it 3 or 4 years in the middle 20 mill range. If you think he’s fixable you do it. But man howie the cap genius....
Take Indy for example who trades for Wentz. The Eagles would take parts of the contract and turn it into signing bonuses which would only be a 24mil cap hit for 2021 and done after that. The Colts would take on the remainder of the contract but can cut him after 2 yrs with zero cap hit. So it would be 2yrs at about 49mil to get Wentz right and if not he would be cut.

Yeah something like that. Which for a starting qb is cheap!

Yes and if the Wentz experiment fails, cut the rope and move on. I only picked Indy as an example cause I think Reich knows how to fix Wentz.

Who knows what is coming.

I think it is more likely that they fire Doug and hire a new HC to work with Wentz. I think above all else they should fire Roseman and then let the new GM make the rest of the decisions.
Not possible if you believe the Hoop Eagle fanbase.
How is that the routine AMVP, the ACOY and the AGM of the year could all be gone at one time?

This can't be accurate.
