REGISTERED GUMP!!!
In case California doesn’t play CFB.
Nice payday though. Can't think of a better way to initiate an inexperienced offensive line than to play Bama right out of the gate. That ought to do a lot for their confidence.
But hey, it ain't like the horny toads would have to make a long road trip. 15-20 miles.
Nice payday though.
Imagine they avoid this switch like the plague though. Mandatory prayer hours for all the fan base.
I'm not saying they won't take it but they aren't going to do it joyfully. If Cal and USC aren't playing football Week 1, not sure a better offer is out there.
SEC requires a P5 opponent every year and while they probably would get a pass it’s a big payday left on the table and a bad impression with the voters. They aren’t doing this because they have hearts of gold.well, i'm glad bama is talking to a legit ooc opponent to replace it instead of a walkover.
if the Pac decides to wait.. Bet schools like AZ,ASU,UT and CO would be pissed.. realignment should be fun
Which is the reason why the Big 12 is so appealing for a school like SC.. Texas still made more money than the standard rust belt school because of it's 3rd tier rights. ou wasn't far from that either with it's sooner network deal. If 6 teams from the current Pac go to the Big 12, they will make some serious money along with the current group of schools in the Big 12.Just one more year for the "plausible deniability talks" and the rumors to begin.
All this depends on if big money is offered by someone to own the rights to the B1G games. The B1G gamble of having a short-term contract and then being the first to renegotiate might not payoff. The B1G was the last to negotiate in the last round of contract talks.
I expect the B1G to start putting feelers out in 2021 to schools in the Big 12 and the PAC 12. I doubt any SEC team would be willing to actually leave the SEC, and the same for the ACC, but you never know on the ACC since there is overlap in the ACC and B1G for adjoining states.
The numbers are NOT the SEC Network, B1G Network, ACC network, 3rd party rights, etc, etc, etc.
I have not updated my information in awhile though, it is possible some TV contracts have been extended, just like the SEC and ACC were.
B1G contract ends after 2022-2023
PAC 12 contract ends after 2023-2024
Big 12 Contract ends 2024-2025
SEC contract ends after 2032-2033
ACC contract ends after 2035-2036
Current payout per team, per year, per big network TV(ESPN, CBS, Fox, NBC) contract
B1G - $31,429,000 until 2022-2023
PAC 12 - $20,835,000 until 2023-2024
Big 12 - $20,000,000 until 2024-2025
SEC - $18,900,000 until 2032-2033
ACC - $17,145,000 until 2035-2036
The actual Conference revenue distributions from last May/June
B1G $54,000,000
SEC $43,700,000
Big 12 $38,800,000
PAC 12 $ $31,300,000
ACC $30,000,000
Only 11 schools made morethan $70,000,000 in rights and licensing, and eight of those schools are in the B1G
Our DL has been down the last couple of years, and it’s been pretty disappointing. It’s definitely an area that needs serious improvement if we are to be a serious contender. Can't think of a better way to initiate an inexperienced offensive line than to play Bama right out of the gate. That ought to do a lot for their confidence.

We have hearts of joyful kids.SEC requires a P5 opponent every year and while they probably would get a pass it’s a big payday left on the table and a bad impression with the voters. They aren’t doing this because they have hearts of gold.

They do count BYU as P5.I don't believe that. (Unless it just happened)
We've just completed our 6th year of the Playoff ERA (Power5 era)
If that rule is actual...then all teams would have played a minimum of 6 games vs an OOC P5 team.
6 SEC teams have scheduled against less than 6 OOC P5 teams.
