I hope he's clean and can stay on the field. But he's only played 10 games in the last 4 seasons, which is why I have trepidation. Not hating on them just alot of unknown/unproven/unreliable.

And I get they made moves on defense. They should be better, but still won't be top 10-15 in the league. Calling for a 6 win improvement is also pretty significant.

Josh Gordon can't lay off the sauce and drugs long enough to put together a full season. What a pure waste of talent.

Definitely a fair point on Gordon, but if he doesn't get suspended, he's an elite WR.

To the highlighted part - If they're healthy, I don't know how they're not. From a PPG defense last year they were awful, but when your defense is on the field constantly and the other team always has amazing field position, that's gonna obviously happen. The only team who averaged better starting field position for the opposition last year was Denver, and they were a very distant last in average deficit to begin every drive. They were middle of the NFL when it came to total defense and 3-and-outs forced, and that was with a secondary that couldn't stop shit or force any INTs.

What I'm seeing:

1) Browns underachieved last year. Probably should've been 3-13 (ish)
2) Browns schedule looks fairly tough
3) Tyrod Taylor doesn't turn the ball over. Kizer was a turnover machine
4) Baker Mayfield might be really, really good but I dont think he'll be ready
5) Bengals look middle of the pack and Ravens could be anything

I think the Browns get to 4-12 or 5-11 with Taylor. The game manager potential is solid but I'm not fully sold on the Browns secondary.

If Mayfield pulls a Russell Wilson and plays right away then maybe we're talking playoff contender. I think Lamar Jackson is supposed to be the QB in division that is pro ready and he is on a fringe playoff team as is. I think the Ravens might be the team you think the Browns are.

But its football. The Browns are trending up. Imo still a year away.

That's a big jump. I'd say more likely one more season. Then they will be true contenders for a playoff spot. Given this years picks pan out and they draft well again next year.

They play the Broncos, Chiefs, Raiders, Bengals 2x, Ravens 2x and at the Texans. I think they have to go 6-2 against those teams to have a chance.

Their other games are the Steelers 2x, the NFC South, the Jets, and the Chargers. They'd probably have to go 4-4 there but maybe they could get into the playoffs at 9-7.

No, not yet. I think they need a new HC cause going 1-31 should have gotten you canned unless your name is Marvin Lewis. I give them another year and Baker Mayfield at the helm then yes the Browns have a shot.

WR's look good on paper but who's going to consistently throw them the ball?

No way they make playoffs...maybe 7 wins if they catch a few breaks

There a year away
I'm guessing by 2020 we'll have a better idea where they are going.....It's not happening overnight, but they need to set a positive trend this upcoming season, followed by a solid season after and then a significant jump after that.....The draft picks and players in place have to pan out.....Especially who's under center......

No. It takes time for most teams to shed such a pitiful culture of losing, the Browns arent going to get all the way to poatseason status in one season. No doubt they should be much improved, but playoffs? Not this season, sorry
It'll only take the Browns two weeks to feel like true winners.

no its true, you have piss poor roster depth, there were no upgrades made there.......
Not even remotely true, but again, you're filed under the "doesn't know the roster" tab, so it's OK.

You were making a lot of sense until this, and then you lost it. Lamar Jackson is at least a year away.

Maybe. We've seen a couple of teams win right away with a running QB and Lamar Jackson fits the same mold.

Baltimore Ravens were last in the league in YPA last year. Lamar Jackson could continue the trend (or Joe Flacco could continue the trend) but if that number goes up at all then the Ravens are a playoff contender.
