Brown got burnt to a crisp as a perimeter cornerback last year -- he allowed the most touchdown passes in the league -- but he fared well when subbing for oft-injured slot CB Orlando Scandrick. With Scandrick gone to Washington, Brown should be locked in as Dallas' slot corner. At early OTAs, the Cowboys are utilizing Chidobe Awuzie and Byron Jones as their starting boundary cover men.

So what you're saying is he was cross training? Cardio and strength training? At 3 in the morning? Man that guy is dedicated. He really wants that #1 WR role.

Brown was pretty good year 1 and pretty bad year 2. The guy on the field last year was not of starting quality. I thought year one he was put in a good spot. I thought he was a little overrated and didn't play quite as well as some made it out, but I thought he showed a lot of potential. Maybe he takes a step forward this year which would be great.

Kind of what I suspected that Gathers wasn't really still feeling the effects of the concussion all year.


I keep going back and forth between the conservative thought that Gathers just doesn't know the game well enough, block well enough or know the play book well enough to make this team or ever really be an NFL player AND the optimistic thought about how excited I was about this guy last August and how if we played him strictly on passing downs he could be a force and in particular a red zone force that could be a big part of our offense.

Someone help me decide!!!

The fact that guy is still on the team just baffles the hell out of me. He should still be in the alanta airport as far as Im concerned. Which really leads me to wonder about the coaches in Dallas.

I really think that the nuances of the game has him confused which causes his blocking to be absolutely horrible. The way he stands there during the play will get his legs cut from him and he will end up on IR because of a broken knee or something.

I've read that he is still clueless on route adjustments, doesn't know what to do. If that's really the case, might as well cut bait. He will get a legit shot this training camp to make the team

And this is why it is such a tough call for me. If he gets preseason chances and performs as well as last year he needs to be on the roster. But, that also means we probably go 4 TEs. We also will likely go deep on WRs. Something has to give. But, of course, preseason injuries have a way of disrupting roster plans...
