Who do some people think we are? We're not some scrub team who can be walked all over all season like the Cleveland Browns. We have a great coaching staff and some really great players. I'm predicting we win at least 10 games this year.

You lost at home to the falcons on MNF. You got steamrolled at home by LAR and have gotten outdueled the last three years at home by Arizona, and they will Qwest killer DJ back. You also lost at home to Washington. You went 4-4 at home last year.

Hmmmm. We'll see soon enough.
Will the team succeed at their moves to manufacture a top level run game?
That is the biggest question to me.
Could be good...could be bad.

So last year is going to be the same as this year?

The NFL is a young mans game and those Seahawks are getting old. Wilson might win them a bunch of games alone, but they are done contending. They may not even make the playoffs.

So those 4 older Seahawks make the Seahawks an old team now?

Earl Thomas and kam chancellor are getting old. They are getting more injury prone. They are already without their number 1 corner. That secondary was what made them a contender. Without that, they are just another pretty good passing team.

Well, naturally they aren’t done forever, but they definitely need to rebuild. That gets hard when you pick in the teens constantly. Making the playoffs looks even tougher now that all 3 other teams in the division have young Promising QBs and plenty of talent to boot.

Your logic doesn't hold even through this one post. How'd SF reset so fast, from perennial power, to doormat, to up and coming team? With a good QB.

Seattle already HAS that, which is exactly my point.

I've said this numerous times now..I really like what we've done with the OL the past couple seasons and now we have a competent guy in Solari to coach them up. We'll see more running lanes for our RBs and Wilson will actually have time to throw the ball instead of running for his life out there.

We've had a good QB since we drafted him. We just haven't always had a good line in front of him so he can throw to our receivers.

SF built through being at he top of the draft. Seattle won’t have that option as long as Wilson is in town. Wilson’s contract also isn’t that bad now, but when he gets paid, it will only get more difficult for Seattle to build a title contender. It’s the way the nfl goes. Windows are short. Once you lose quality players that helped you win a title, have to pay the other ones significantly more, the talent on your team suffers. It’s happened to every NFL team that has had success outside of New England. Seattle is no different. Now would be the time to start rebuilding in Seattle. Either that, or you can suffer through mediocrity. You can argue all you want, but several years down the road when the Seahawks haven’t won anything else, you’ll see what I am saying is true and applies to your team, just as it does almost everyone else’s.

I also think you have more to worry about in the Rams than you do the 9ers, even though Jimmy G is undefeated as a 9er. Wilson is a great QB, but what JG did is downright impressive. JG looks like he could be the best QB in that division as soon as next year.

I had this discussion with someone at work last week and we agreed on the first point you made. Every team goes through success in the NFL (unless you're the Browns Bills Dolphins and Jets just to name a few). When players are ready for a 2nd or 3rd contract after a Super Bowl winning season they are gonna want to get paid. Up to this point we've been lucky with guys taking team-friendly deals to stay in Seattle but sooner or later that's not gonna be the case. Big name players always want to chase the money and go some where to make more money.

As for your 2nd point I wouldn't look past Jared Goff. I do agree with you that Garoppolo will have a great season with the 49ers but just look at what Goff did last season with the Rams. He's the real deal as well. That offense in L.A. is gonna be crazy good once again this season.

As for point 1, it’s the way the nfl works. It’s why there’s always atleast one head scratcher that makes the playoffs every year.

As for the second point, Goff is very good too. In fact the rams will probably run the division for at least 1 year (too many expensive free agents for any extended longevity in my book.) Heck, Rosen could be special too. I thought he was the Best QB prospect in the draft. The NFC West is probably the toughest division in the NfL right now, and that plays into my prediction that the Seahawks will take a step backwards this year and really should start a rebuild.

I love not knowing who will make the playoffs and what teams miss out on the playoffs every season. Makes the NFL really fun to watch. There's always a select number of teams from each conference who are perennial playoff contenders.

Three of those games were winnable if they had a real kicker but yeah there were real issues on the offensive side of the ball

I think when you have a QB in place you don't really do a full rebuild but rather a retool.

I'm thinking something simlair to what the Steelers did between runs where they had a couple of 8-9 win years before climbing back up again. Of course in the AFC that's a lot easier tho.

Blair Walsh is anything but a real kicker.

Remove players from the equation that don't produce and plug in guys who have the heart to go out and play well for you.
