You assume the opposite as well.

They had a conversation with Beltre.

It is best to do what is best for the team overall. You don't think those guys have that figured out by now. I heard Gallo talking yesterday and he seems to have it figured out. The players would probably rather management be honest.

Everyone is a critic. Not just me. Some criticize fans for being critical of the team's management. Some criticize the team's management. Some criticize the players.
I think Bannister and the players are doing the best they can, the problem comes down to what the ownership and JD have put together. this team is about what was expected. no pitching to speak of and very weak offensively and defensively especially when you lose Beltre and Andrus. although occasionally like yesterday they perform and win

I do not see Calhoun being a Ranger on the big team. Where would he fit?
Agree. Things have changed in his corner of the world with the Rangers dramatically.

DH or LF in 2019 or as early as late July of this year.

We were not that good even with Beltre and Andrus because we were playing Rua, Robinson, Odor and Tocci and I have been a Rua fan since Hickory and an Odor fan since Myrtle Beach. But they were dragging this team down. So with Delino back and IKF, Profar and Guzman getting to play I think we may be equal to what we had before Andrus and Beltre went on the DL.

He has imo not proven he can handle the OF and DH may be too crowded with Choo and possibly Profar and IHK.

I don't see that Saddles. As I have thought before I believe Gallo is being groomed for LF and he seems fine with it. Choo would have to be moved as we are not free of him until 2021. And if Beltre is out I really think Profar or IKF takes his spot.

I don't think he was trade worthy because he sucked complete ass.
If he didn't you would say he is too good to trade though.

Lots of folks do the same with their favorite players.

Kinsler was too good to be traded and not good enough to trade at the same time in some folks eyes.

Now Odor is seen the same way. He is too bad to be traded now, but at the same time he is too good to give up on. Fans develop their own no-trade-clause arguments for their favorites sometimes. They think their favorite player is too bad to be traded, but too good to take out of the lineup at the same time. lol

Choo, Beltre and Hamels should be gone by 2019 if not sooner.

Alright so I've boned this all up. I forgot that DDJ was a rule 5 draft player and not acquired via trade.

So let me knock the top 5 trades off... Elvis, Lee, Hamilton, Cruz, Napoli.

FA Signings... Beltre, Darvish, and 3 TBDs.
Those were all great trades.

We almost negated the Cruz one though by leaving him unprotected or DFAed. I forget the details, but anyone could have taken him from us at some point.

They are all in the distant past now though. JD needs to work that kind of magic again.

Not really gonna wade through that circular logic, other than to say my perspective is usually one of looking at a player's trade value realistically, not emotionally.

Like Beltre?

I do agree that it is circular logic.

Here's the reason Willie Calhoun isn't on the Rangers' roster. It's not what many think

"I didn't even know May 3 was the day, and I'm really offended by those statements because they ignore fact," said Daniels, the Rangers general manager. "Some idiot wrote an article that was the reason we sent Willie down, and I found that really offensive. Go back and look at our track record."

He has a point. Elvis Andrus, Keone Kela, Nomar Mazara, Jurickson Profar, Martin Perez and Ronald Guzman are the examples he cited when the Rangers did not try to preserve an extra year of control.

If a young player is the best option, the Rangers have tended to go with him....

"What we're doing might be the wrong move," Daniels said. "But we take some pride in not making those moves."

"He's still working on his defense," Daniels said. "The reports have been really positive on the pregame work he's been putting in. I'm really encouraged by that. I haven't spoken to him. Our message to the staff there is to keep pushing it."

Calhoun entered Tuesday batting .229 with just a .365 slugging percentage, but the Rangers aren't worried about the bat. Calhoun is going to hit and hit a bunch this season, whether he spends all of it at Round Rock or gets some big-league time with the Rangers.

I can if he can be dealt. But he is owed $21,000,000 in 2019 and 2020. Not sure who will take that on. And if we have to pay part of his salary to make the trade how much do we want to give of that $21,000,000.
