Your first place San Francisco Giants

OK, so we haven't had all the breaks. Arguably, we have lost our best hitter (Melky), our best reliever (Weezy), and in a sense our best starter (Timmy).

Despite all that, we are in first place.

We have, compared to recent seasons, improved overall hitting. The "3P" core of Posey, Panda, and Pence is quite formidable, and we are getting some nice upside surprises lately from Belt, Craw, Scoots, and even HSan (.844 OPS since the AS break). Pagan has been solid as well.

We have a starting five that is still the envy of the league, esp if Timmy gets back on track, as I think he will when the weather cools down and the real race heats up.

The bullpen is better than most think. The underperformers dragging down the ERA are gone. We have to trust Bochy/Righetti to find a solution to the closer issue, game-by-game if necessary. By now, they know what they are doing.

Don't underestimate the DBags and the Dogies. But don't overestimate them either.

It is gut-check time. Time for the hand-wringing and pantshatting to subside, for the despair to end, and for the hope and healing to begin.

We can win this thing. We are going to win this thing.

We survived the horrors of MelkyGate and we are back in 1st. Good job at pointing out that there is more to be thankful for than to complain about.

All I ever ask for from The Giants is to be in the hunt. Less than 50 games to go, and we are not only in the hunt; we find ourselves in 1st place. The Dodgers appear to have a better team on paper...but who knows how this will turn out? Yesterday certainly shows this team ain't giving up.
