Achilles can be a long recovery time. He could very well miss the start of the season next year depending how fast/slow things go for him so he might not be willing to go thru with it given his age.

Achilles surgery can depend on amount of degeneration.
Rodgers already had calf injuries to both calves during the off-season.
More degeneration = more surgery. Removing and replacing portions of tendon rather than just stitching a tear.
Without complications, repair takes 6 months to walk "normally" Playing football takes at least 11 months.
It will be draft time before he knows what he is up against......
