I posted a question yesterday about rumors Winker didn't even go to the last game vs Astros. Today I am reading this:

So maybe my suggestion back earlier in the season that Winker wasn't happy here was true. I thought that when he signed his 2 year deal, a mistake by the Mariners, that it wasn't true but I have read that he has a daughter back home and that may be why he wants to be elsewhere. Him being lazy as reported is a whole different issue. I mean the guy looks like he has never seen a gym before.

He came off as creepy to me in the early pre and early season interviews they played nonstop on root. So unsurprised.

There were times during the season when he struck out it looked like he didn't give a crap as he walked back to the dugout.

I agree. He just looked disinterested early on and that is why I mentioned back then that he and Frazier both looked like they hated being here. Frazier seemed to come around as far as looking happier but Winker just didn't. Buh Bye.

It is weird because TMobile is perfect for a hitter like him. It’s really odd that team gelled once Winker started the brawl. It is positive if he can be included in a trade along with White and Lewis. White and Lewis are two guys that the front office has to trade this off-season.

I wouldn't give up on Lewis yet. If he can't play the field I would DH him. Edgar got into the hall of fame with that path and Lewis was a pretty good hitter until he got hurt.

But man was it painful for me to watch him 'run'. I feel so bad for him and hope he can DH with health.I would love that.

Eh, Edgar was great prior to his injuries and his game wasn’t entirely built on athleticism. Lewis essentially played well for 40 games. He needs to stay out as long as it takes or however many surgeries it takes for him to be able to move on the field. One thing as Mariners fans is we have to give up on him. He and Jerry have whatever issue it was where Jerry said he was faking it, and Lewis obviously rushed back because his body was nowhere near ready for the MLB.

I have always been a Lewis believer but things I noticed last year kind of soured me slightly. I have no doubt that if healthy he would hit. Not necessarily hit .300 but .260/.270 with 20-25 homers feels reasonable. However between whatever is going on with that knee and however he's choosing to go about working out/rehabbing combined with potential attitude issues has me unsure.

For me Lewis and Kelenic (yes completely different players) fall under the scope of you better not be handing them anymore then a 24/25/26th roster spot and should not be relied upon for anything.

I have far more belief in Kelenic being a component of the Mariners immediate future ( 1-3 yrs ) than Lewis.

And I am not real big on either of them.

Kelenic is a head case for sure, but he has raw talent and is durable and very athletically gifted.

I would not hire Lewis to help me with some landscaping in my yard because I would be afraid he would get hurt and wanna sue me civilly for causing him harm.

I'm of the oppinion...that they can work things out.

.but..like scott....if work out is what..they do. ( agree with scott)..then work out is what to do...

when in rome..do as the romans..
when a mariner...do as mariners do..

Problem with Lewis means he has to be the DH. In Tacoma he tore it up offensively but was a massively liability in the field. I agree with Kelenic being a 26 man on the roster. With Lewis it is all a wait and see on how his knees handle another offseason. And am also curious is he going work out with the Mariners staff or go work out with his own people again.

Kelenic’ only goal for this off-season is to slim down. Was a 10 5 prospect when he was thinner, and it looks like all he did during Covid was hit the gym and it showed

This is the kicker. His attitude regarding working with the team or by himself.
