If the Pats manage to win the SB this year and TB12 calls it a career, how would you feel about the Jimmy G trade?

Doesn't matter. As long as JG was around, Brady was going to play at a high level. Now that he's gone, Brady has dropped off a bit but certainly has the fire and the ability to finish.

Right now, Brady's at 65,750 yards for his career. My guess is that he'll at least try to break the 72,000 yard mark. Bree just crossed yesterday and Manning is the all time career leader at 71,140. If Brady can average 4500 a year for 2018, 2019, 2020 he either own the all time mark or be second behind Brees.

I thought they could get more for him and his recent play validates that. Whether or not Brady keeps playing I will always think they could have gotten more. I also feel they should have gotten more for Brissett.

These trades will be an after thought when compared to BB's entire body of work.

Not a fan of either trade. I understand the reasons for them. Just wished we could have gotten more. We don’t know what kind of player we will get with the 49’ers pick. So it really sucks seeing San Francisco thrive with their part of the trade and we have to wait.

If TB calls it quits what's to stop NE from trying to sign Jimmy G?

We all wished we could've kept him or got more but it was a risk BB took holding onto him as long as he did.

I'm not going to second guess it.

Here's hoping to finding a gem in the draft:suds:

The trade of Jimmy G signals that TB will be back next yr. I agree they could have gotten more, but they didn't and I'll take the early 2nd rd pick to secure the LB core up.

I truly believe that Kraft was the one who pushed Jimmy out the door, because he was afraid that BB would have traded TB.

I agree we have to draft a QB but I really feel we need a DT first. Not sure who might be there after that. I hope we take a look at Mason Rudolph

Every year a team is faced with tough personnel decisions. All decisions are a gamble.

The scenario you describe would be the worst-case scenario.
Hopefully, Brady's game holds up long enough to acquire another QB - equal or better.
No guarantees.....

Didn't like it then so I really really won't like it if TB calls it a career now.

I disagree we need to go QB with the highest or even 2nd highesg pick. After that see who's available?
Best available with the first pick (-)QB, WR or RB. Anywhere on the D side I'm good with. OL, TE if they grade out higher and fit the system I'd also be ok with.
TB was a 6th rounder. I'm ok going into next year with Hoyer as the back up if they can't find a low cost better option.
Once we know TB12 is retiring then go get a quality vet that's a FA. Or use a high draft pick.

IMO...LB before DT or QB!! Don't forget, we are missing big Vince Valentine who was huge last yr. I think DT with Brown, Guy, Butler, VV, Branch is plenty. Now LB...look where we are w/o HT, Van Noy, Shea for that fact. We need an athletic LB who can cover. I'd even look at S play too. DMC, Hung, Chung (getting older) Richards (sucks) Ebner (ST guy)...

One argument to give consideration to QB with the 1st rounder is gaining the 5th year option on the rookie contract, particularly in light of having an early pick in the 2nd round, as well, to address a current need. But it still needs to be the right guy and not just the next guy available.

Definitely agree on getting LB’s(plural) first. What QB’s coming out this year will be available and the end of the first, top of the second that would fit what the Patriots are doing? Or do we take a player and work to his strong points?

Totally agree. Would love to see them double dip at LB spot with those first 2 picks. A solid LB and a LB/DE would be nice! AS for QB...I'll let BB decide on that. Who was all aboard the Jacoby B train when he was taken?? OR the Jimmy G train???? Not me! We also found some guy like really late in the draft 16yrs ago.....IDK.....
