The 13-member committee will be comprised of the following individuals:
• Jeff Long, vice chancellor and director of athletics, University of Arkansas-Fayetteville (chair) SEC.
• Barry Alvarez, director of athletics, University of Wisconsin-Madison Big 10
• Lieutenant General Mike Gould, former superintendent of the United States Air Force Academy Wild card.
• Pat Haden, director of athletics, University of Southern California Pac XII
• Tom Jernstedt, former NCAA executive vice president Oregon grad PAC XII
• Oliver Luck, director of athletics, West Virginia University Big XII
• Archie Manning, former University of Mississippi quarterback and all-pro NFL quarterback SEC
• Tom Osborne, former head coach and director of athletics, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Big 10
• Dan Radakovich, director of athletics, Clemson University ACC
• Condoleezza Rice, Stanford University professor, former Stanford provost and former United States Secretary of State Pac XII
• Mike Tranghese, former commissioner of the Big East Conference Wild Card (St. Michaels??)
• Steve Wieberg, former college football reporter, USA Today SEC (Mizzou grad)
• Tyrone Willingham, former head coach of three FBS institutions Pac XII Coach but MSU grad Big 10.

Likely voting bias for each group:

SEC: 3 votes
PAC XII : 3 votes
Big 10: 3 votes
Big XII: 1 vote
ACC: 1 vote
Wild Card: 2 votes

Everyone is talking about the likelyhood of the BIG champ getting left out if there are questions about conference strength. I think it is very likely that the Big XII champ will get left out and if the ACC champ is not FSU they better be undefeated as well. Everyone thought this committee was the way to go to get the best 4 teams. Looks to me like there is a very good chance the SEC or PAC gets two teams in with these people voting on it.

Doubtful. Even the voters associated with the B1G have to know how weak the B1G is. Big 12 will be fine...

History has shown that OU/Texas is unlikely to get screwed. FSU/Miami same story. If you are OKState, Baylor, NCST, etc you are screwed. I would actually say that will apply for every conference, perhaps outside of the SEC

As it looks right now the ACC looks the weakest out of the big 5.

With braxton miller out, is the B1G any better than the ACC?

No it's absolutely not.

The B1G should be very worried if Oregon beats MSU and LSU beats Wisky when it comes down to leaving out one of the 5 power conferences

That is assuming the conference champion isn't undefeated

The Big 10 has an interesting week 1:

Wisconsin vs. LSU
Penn State vs. UCF
Rutgers @ Washington State
California @ Northwestern
Ohio State vs. Navy

The B1G must produce a winning record in those games to help change the perception of the conference. I could see them going 5-0 or 1-4 in those to be honest.

I think the big thing is if oregon beats MSU, since MSU is going to run through the B1G.

How do the results of these games make the ACC better?

That'll be a big blow to the conference, no doubt. I think it's more likely MSU gets blown out than them actually winning.

There may not be any undefeated members of the P5 this year. I would bet that at least 1- 2 loss school will make the playoff.

They are two different points. Hence the split paragraph.

Okay, so I guess we can assume you don't have anything to back up your point that the ACC is better than the B1G.

Big 12 has a pretty ugly slate early. National games with OK State and KSU. Both will be underdogs. I saw one review that thought OSU will have issues making a bowl this year. That wont matter. People will just remember that a team that has been a Big 12 contender the last few years got stomped.

I think that any team, irrespective of conference, that enters the season thinking it will be okay if they lose a game - isn't really preparing to play in the championship tournament.

Its not as if the B1G teams are playing these tough games at home.

Beating Oregon in Autzen hasn't seemed to be an easy task as of late.

Not sure why you're asking about my counter point when your initial point had no substance behind it at all - in reality, your main point had nothing backing it up. Because I know you're a conference homer and won't provide anything reasonable I'll do you a service.

Last year, it could easily be argued that the ACC > B1G. The ACC had 11 teams go to bowls, won the NC, and was only the 2nd conference to win a 2nd BCS bowl (over the B1G #2) as well. This year with who is returning in both conferences, the B1G doesn't really separate itself, and then when you consider tOSU is without Braxton Miller, it seems rather reasonable to assume the B1G isn't much better. Especially after the huge drop off after the few top B1G teams.
