Who SHOULD we go for

Ok we all want Stamkos but Stevie Y has indicated they will not let him go. So time for plan B. We have around $8-10 million (depending on Lappy). We need to sign Voracek and Simmond which I think will take a total of $4-5 mill. If Leino does not sign, we could go after Cole $2.5-3 or maybe Gagne at a very reduced rate. I would love to get Ehrhoff but I dont think we can or should spend another $5-6 on a dman. I still think we need another 5-6 type guy with a hit around what O'Donnell made last year. Otherwise open it up to Marshall, Gustafsson, Bourdon and Lehtivuori. I would also like to see Read, Testwuide and Holmstrom get a shot.

So who do you want to see signed tomorrow?

I have thought about Madden but he seems to be Betts but maybe a little better. I don't see us cutting Betts. I am sure, however, the price would be right. I have always liked Zus but I am not sure where he would fit in. Would be the faceoff guy we have wanted. I would think a push for Cole could be the ticket.

i just say that in case shenn or couturier aren't ready.. plus, having a 5th center every night wouldnt be a bad thing.. if shenn or couturier are ready to play, them or zus can play wing, no biggie

i'm hoping they give giroux, jvr, and simmonds a shot.. i think that line could be nasty

jvr and giroux have great chemistry and i think simmonds could be the grinder that could free up space for them to work.. dont exactly have a shooter (like carter was) but i think jvr will shoot a lot more this season

San Fillippo (sic) is saying that after a late night of meetings that included Ed Snider they decided not to pursue an offer sheet and are looking at....free agent names that even a casual hockey fan would recognize. Now is that a loaded statement or what? I can't wait to see what that means.

As for me. I would bring back Gagne in a heart beat if the price was right. Handzus I am a little more hesitant because he is even slower than he was when we ditched him the last time ... but he is a big body who can win faceoffs so he is worth looking at. Madden just doesn't do it for me. Drury's health is more suspect than Gagne IMHO.

Regardless, this is every bit as interesting off season as I had thought it would be.

Anyone really know the reason Leino hasn't signed? Does he really think he's going to get paid that much more than what the Flyers will give? Personally I think the Flyers offer a nice deal to avoid FA. I guess we will see in the next few hours. This sucks.
