Whats the actual deal with Bobby Butler?

Read on here a few days ago that he was released and Lou was hoping he would clear waivers...well now Im reading that they wanted him to play in the AHL all star game , which is why he was sent down.

Any truth to this? Is he still on the active roster and if he is does he have any shot of playing anytime soon?

i'm not sure whats up with him. i heard great things up and down about him and didnt think he would clear waivers but he did? why is that? also they wanted to let him play in the all star game? to all the kovy haters and bashers that had a problem with what he did should feel similar to this kid....if in fact more pissed because he shouldnt be worried about an ahl all star game he should be worried about getting his ass back to the big show!

Yeah I was shocked he cleared waivers..but was also shocked he didnt make the opening night roster. Everything Ive read about the guys skills has been positive. Perhaps he has an attitude problem and isnt a good teammate? I know the Devs always like the high character guys. At this point I think of anything else.

The report on Butler is he won't play defense. It was just the first game, but I thought there were a few times where we were really, really lacking offense in the first game. The top 2 lines were fine, but the bottom 2 seemed a bit like offensive black holes (except when Kovy was getting double shifted) . I have a feeling we're going to need his kind of production.

Also, where did you see they wanted him to play in the All Star game, because I seriously doubt that. Lou doesn't even like it when our NHL players go to the NHL all star game.

If thats true then its ridiculous..I understand the every player should be a 2way player type mindset but on a team where stopping goals from being scored isnt really the problem theres no reason for him not to be out there. I love Cammer and anxious to see what Matteau can do but Butler could easily be out there over each of them.

I saw it on the waiver wire in my fantasy league on Yahoo..they had it credited to Tom Gulliti of the Bergen Record.

Butler officially cleared waivers on Saturday according to TSN.ca but is likely to stay with the Devils for the start of the season.
Recommendation: As reported earlier by Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record it was simply a procedural move to allow Butler the opportunity to return to Albany to play in the AHL All-Star Game, a nod he just recently received. If he does stay with the Devils, he should have strong fantasy value as he should see plenty of minutes on the ice this season.

There's the Butler waivers article. No where does it mention the all star game, and in the post where TG reported that BB made the ASG, he says it's not clear if Albany would be able to send another representative.

I dont know how credible Yahoo is with there reporting even if it has an actual writers name to it..seems to kinda contradict the original story that was posted here a few days ago about Butler.

he did look a little more in place then say ted or anderson. he actually looked like he belonged out there. then again maybe its just because he had #9 and i was thinking it was parise
