It's quite a building. It's huge. Big concourse, tons of concessions and bathrooms. There's a pre-game "Beer Garden" on the strip between the Luxor and Mandalay Bay which is a great idea. Its free, there's a bars and food stands, it opens at 9am (local) and they have the early games on. Then they close the major road that crosses the highway to walk to the stadium.

Pretty rowdy inside, as expect with Raider fans. I was shocked with how many Bengals fans were there, it was at least 1/3 Bengals fans. The Raider fans near me, despite their swearing were actually pretty down to earth. They hate Carr. Like worse than we hated Dalton.

Overall, if you have the chance, I would totally recommend going.

I also went to see the Golden Knights game the night before. Now that was quite at atmosphere. The sound system was louder than most concerts I have been to.
Awesome! Thanks for the details. I like the idea of the beer garden. Given all the fans that travel to Vegas by airplane, you won't always have a traditional car tailgating scene. A beer garden with early games on solves a lot of that issue. Not surprised about the 1/3 Bengals crowd - I have to imagine that every team's first trip to Vegas will bring a huge crowd with them.... Hell, I guess if they appear on your schedule in any given year, you'll have a big road crowd. It seems like the ideal place to watch your favorite team, just for the whole weekend experience.

Regarding the turf again...

"The turf shifted under me," McPherson said. "And so I was learning from that, scoot up, slow up. Just making sure I'm under control, under balance. I knew if I got my plant foot in the ground there was a pretty good chance it would go through. It came down to figuring out the turf pregame."

As far as nicknames for him....

So he's not staying up at night trying to pick one of his potential nicknames that he sees rampaging through Twitter. If it was the 1980s and one of the Back to the Futures was in the theaters, "McFly," wouldn't be bad. But it does sound like he's settled on one. "If I had to choose, I kind of like Money Mac," McPherson said. "It's kind of catchy and kind of has a nice ring to it, you could say. That's kind of what some of the guys call me I guess on the team. "Tell the announcers that I no longer go by Evan it's just Money Mac now."

My wife likes the kickers for some reason, and it doesn't hurt he has the same first name as my son. So back in June I bought my wife a Bengals shirt for ladies and had the number 2 put on it with the name, McFear....cause you have to Fear the Leg. So that is what she wears on game day. Before that, she had a shirt that said "Fat Randy". haha

Leggatron. Sorry. That's what I'm calling him. He wants some odd nickname...Money Mac or something. Sorry...that's just a no.

Fat Randy is my all-time favorite. He's in Tenn now and I have family down there that follow the Titans...so, I get to still use his name from time to time...LOL

I love Vegas. Usually go once, or twice, a year. Likely won't attend a sporting event as I don't care for crowds like that, but Vegas is just awesome.

I can attest for Raider fans disdain for Carr. Got a buddy of mine who is a die-hard as he used to live out west. They call him "Captain Check-down".

Fat Randy looks extra fat this year.

I've also heard the name KickPherson.

Legatron is taken - Greg Zuerlien had it first.

I enjoyed living in the Vegas area. Lake Mead Nat. Rec. Area was a favorite of mine. Some day I'm gonna move back there. I miss it. Was a UNLV season ticket holder (hoops).

Just wondering when you go out there do you stay on The Strip, Freemont or a different location? I grew to hate everything The Strip stands for. But then again that place is for tourists & not locals. Would only go down there if family or friends were in town.

The other thing the Raider fans were complaining about was about the move to Vegas. They hate the fact that they moved to a destination city, so tons out of visiting fans come in for the game, so it kills the Raiders' home field advantage. It seems like the same issue the Chargers are having.

For this trip I stayed at the Luxor because I wanted to be to close to the stadium, and I was originally planning to leave Sunday night after the game. Travel plans changed and I left Monday night, but it was still a lot easier to stay there because I'm getting too old for all the walking required on the Strip.

My girlfriend's mom lived in Henderson until she passed away last year, so we used to stay at her place, and then maybe do like one mid-week night at the strip if I had a comped room and do the tourist/strip thing.

There was no interest whatsoever in the Chargers until they started showing some life.... My understanding is that their base in SD hated the move and didn't want to follow and the rest of LA was already settled on the Rams - A team that at least had some history in the area (not that it should matter given all the transients out there).
Not sure the Raiders fans can do much about the road crowds.... It's too big of an appeal for other teams' fans. On the bright side, home-field isn't what it used to be anymore, so I'm not sure they are at much of a disadvantage compared to other teams.

My opinion on Vegas is everyone should go out there at least once. There's so much to do out there besides gambling.

A neighbor of mine that's never been out there has incorrectly convinced himself that it's only The Strip surrounded by desert with nothing to do except gamble. I think that's funny.

This was the least gambling I did on a vegas trip, tried my best to keep myself busy and away from the casinos. Went to the two games and a bunch of museums.

The irony was that all of raider fans who I talked to werent from vegas, so they came in for the game just like I did.

The museums you went to, was one of them the Mob Museum by any chance? I really wanna check that place out. It opened after I moved. Former Vegas mayor, and mob attorney, Oscar Goodman had something to do with getting it started. Seems like a very interesting place. History of the mob in Vegas.

Usually stay on the strip. My goal is to stay at every place at least once. Finally checked Cosmo off my list last visit thanks to ridiculously low prices during the whole Covid thing. Trying Park MGM in February.

We've stayed downtown a few times. I like it. It's a nice change of pace. It's been a bit since I've made my way down there, though. Need to make sure we get down there on this coming trip.

My favorite place used to be the old Imperial Palace, now the Linq. Man, that place was a DIVE. But it was cheap, and I liked the casino and layout. I like the renovations they've done, though. And the location is pretty solid. I'll pay for a nice room if it's a trip with the wife, but when it's a guys trip - I couldn't care less. Location is where it is at for me, and cheap. I have other things to spend my money on and I just don't spend a ton of time in my room. One of my best trips was a 56 hour jaunt - slept 8 hours.

Staying at every place on The Strip is a great idea. How many total have you stayed at so far? Not even sure how many casino's are on those seven miles of paradise. When I first moved to the desert tried to collect the metal gambling tokens from all the casino's. Got to 20+ and got tired of going down there.

Really like the Imperial Palace mention. That was actually one of the places on The Strip I went to on a somewhat regular basis. Their classic auto show collection was incredible. And it changed on a regular basis. The other casino I'd go into was Mandalay Bay, not sure what it's called now. Because they had a House of Blues.

next week we play Steelers, at home, so unless we play like tards again, we should win.
Ravens and Browns play each other, so a good opportunity to put some distance between us and 2 teams, or catch up to the Ravens.

Steelers games always make me nervous, no matter how shitty the Steelers are playing

We sealed our deal against the Steelers when Tyler Boyd ran his mouth about them quitting after our last game. Reminded me of TJ and Chad and the terrible towel in 2005. Now, it's possible that the Steelers just stink and they can't do anything about it, but I'm definitely worried.
